Delhi Metro (DMRC) Airport Express Line now support RuPay Contactless NCMC Card:
RuPay NCMC service will enable commuters from any part of India travelling on Delhi Metro’s Airport Express Line to use their NCMC compliant RuPay Debit/Credit/Prepaid card for seamless travel. The same card can also be used for shopping, banking transactions etc. across the country.
Delhi Metro has planned to get their full network of nearly 400 km in NCR operational on RuPay Contactless NCMC Card by 2022.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will flag off the country’s first-ever fully-automated driverless train service on Monday. The prime minister will also launch fully operational National Common Mobility Card (NCMC) services on the Airport Express Line.
The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) said that the inauguration will be held via video conferencing at 11 am on Monday. The driverless metro train will run on the 37-km Magenta Line, connecting Janakpuri West and Botanical Garden.
RuPay Contactless NCMC Card -
A Government of India initiative, National Common Mobility Card (NCMC) or One Nation One Card is designed to enhance the penetration of digital payment options throughout the country. Through this card, NPCI aims to digitise cities and make intercity as well as intra-city transport seamless and hassle-free. With path-breaking technologies such as Near Field Communication (NFC), these cards simply have to be tapped at flap gates, retail stores, and can also be used for cash withdrawals at ATMs.
Currently, each mode of transport in India has its own ticketing system and NCMC intends to integrate this. For instance, if a consumer leaves for office, hails an auto rickshaw or ferry, further takes a metro, and finally boards a bus to reach his destination, all he has to do is tap the same card at all ticketing or entry/exit points. This relieves the consumer from the cumbersome task of carrying exact change and also brings down the commute time significantly. Being RuPay-operated, this card can be used to withdraw cash from ATMs as well.
Looking at the pandemic and its impact, these RuPay NCMC cards are likely to consume the future of mobility. Kochi Metro had already deployed RuPay NCMC Cards with Axis Bank where AGS Transact Technologies is the system integrator. Recently, Delhi Metro for phase 4, along with State Bank of India, has launched a card that enables users to travel through metro and also use it for cash withdrawals at ATMs. Similarly, Bangalore Metro and Chennai metro station are also in process of introducing RuPay NCMC Card. Bangalore Metro has already awarded this work to RBL Bank Ltd. where AGS Transact Technologies will be the Technology Partners.

Why everything has to be inaugurated by Modi only? We do have Ministers for all departments, including a high profile Railway Minister. The fact that everything is Modi-centric makes it against the basic concept of democracy.
At the same time, contactless payments have their own security risks and RBI itself has now mandated that Banks must allow customers the option to disable contactless payments.
Majority of DMRC users use the smart card anyway and even those who travel to Delhi occasionally and use the services of Airport Metro keep a smart card with them to use when they travel to Delhi. The long validity of smart card is designed for such purposes only. The loading of smartcards though paytm and other online modes are also there since around 2012. So people rarely are bothered with “carrying change”.
As for driver-less automated trains, DMRC Phase I itself, when it started on 24-Dec-2002, was fully automated driver-less model controlled from DMRC command center and the drivers were only there as a symbolic psychological gesture for the passengers. Now they are just removing that driver who did nothing but just sit in the cabin. Nothing new in the technology.The technology has been functional for nearly 20 years now.

for example – if you want to use your contactless wallet money only for Metro ticket payment then create a Metro payment wallet and use only for Metro ticket payment, you can’t use your contactless wallet money for POS transaction in local shops, restaurants or shopping malls etc

Now we (India) not only save our foreign reserve, we also create a new job, Indian companies are build indigenous AFC gates and last we also export or licensed our AFC gates and smart contactless card technology to other developing countries in Africa or Asia

well, simple answer is we need foreign media’s attention, when other developing nation heard this news India have first driver-less Metro trains then other countries will approach India to build driver-less Metro trains for them.

Right – falsely advertise something old as new and then claim false credit. Or rename something old and then claim the credit.

We spent few 100 crores in installing AFCs. Now change the system and make all those AFCs obsolete and non-functional so that they need to be replaced by new ones after spending few 1000 crs more. And the new machines will definitely be manufactured by Adani or Ambani. Tax payers money going into the pocket of chosen few.

baat sahi ha bhai, tumne he nhi maine bhi bohot pahele socha tha yeh baat. par mai iska kya jawab du ? yeh koi single party ki galti nhi ha pure humare saare political parties ki galti ha aur humare system ki he galti ha. 2006 me congress k time One Nation One Card or NCMC ki baat rakha gaya tha par congress ne time se apna kam kiya nhi, saare cities k Metro ne apne apne marji se dusre dusre companies ko contract de diya tha ustime.
par agar hum One Nation One Card or NCMC Card ko implement nhi karte ha toh humare country ka One Nation One Card ka dream project pura nhi hoga. Saare developed countries me aise system ha. US, Russia, UAE, China, Japan, Australia, Korea, Canada etc toh humare desh me bhi hona chahiye na ?
