Did you guys enrolled into HDFC Classic Family Banking?

What are the criteria for it and how did you apply? Can I add my brother into family group who doesn’t live in India but have years old HDFC account? Any cons?

If going for preferred, classic the amb will be calculated as a sum of all accounts in the group..
Since the amb is based on sum , you get upgrades easily.
If one is classic/preferred and others are added, they will also become preferred which will have features such as free debit card, priority banking and so on
The only con will be that you MAY receive calls( I don’t) for investment suggestions, loans and so on..

Thanks for info Fanil F, I need to ask , do I need to wait for account to become classic before applying for for family group, whose account will be primary in the group which will affect all? lets say one person have 1lac + balance and another person also have something similar but both account are still on standard type so should I wait for classic invite or should I just add them in group now and then all of us will get account upgrade invite someday?

Id suggest give manual form for upgrade to classic and then request group.. you should get preferred upgrade in another month or so..

my RM is saying that it will happen in 7 days since last two month but the account is not getting converted into classic even after parking lac since Sept. She never mentioned to us that we need to fill any form. I will try vising bank to ask for manual form to upgrade.

You need to maintain 1L for 3 months for auto conversion.. if not converted, it’s better to fill a form for upgrade and submit.. it will upgrade to classic in 2 weeks..
I have classic and added my wife as well in family account. Is there a minimum balance for classic individual or family ?

Connect with your RM. She will share form and details, acknowledgement approval is needed from family members

Personally I don’t like this account because you need to maintain 1L in this for classic and all its not needed.. if you don’t maintain there are no charges (and hdfc hardly downgrades accounts) but charges applicable for special gold account

lol it mentions a personalized debit card, my debit card doesn’t even have my name as it’s from bank kit with a blank passbook, account number is also not customized. Should I ask RM to remove this special gold and just let us have classic for once?

Yes unless you find gold benefits useful and also can always maintain 1L.

Get savings max as account variant. Gold special is not needed and gold special accounts are the ones that gets downgraded for non-maintenance mostly.

No need for any acknowledgement.. just in the form you’ll have to enter the customer IDs of all family members.. the form you fill itself will be a request for group banking

Build a good relationship with your RM then you don’t have to visit branch for anything like me. Everything is delivered to home

For me an acknowledgement was sent to wife’s mobile as sms, which had filled form. That form had to be acknowledged, not everyone was aware of process. Finally some CS had called up and we did all this over phone only.
