Does it make sense to Upgrade to DCB

I am getting option to upgrade to FYF Diners club Black or FYF Diners Privilege.Currently I am holding LTF Millenia Diners variant at 6.3 l cc limit.

I know DCB is heavily devaualed ,I am thinking if I can take it and use for 11 months and see it if it’s still worth or else dump it.If I downgrade it after 11 months, will I receive LTF Regalia or millenia.

Also is there any way to make it LTF.

Or else I can wait for my limit to increase above 8 lac and then check via RM if I am eligible for Infinia since I am already having Salary and Demat account with HDFC.Paid Infinia still is worth but it’s invite only so I may not receive it.

Kindly let me know views and suggestions.

Since your target is diners card,I don’t think you’ll get h infinia as it’s visa variant.Since both have same benefits you can try DCB for 11 months. But to get infinia, you should have regalia/ millenia visa card, as per my voew

its not invite only. You get infinia based on your salary

Go for DCB if you can spend 80k per month or Go for diners privilege if you can spend only 40k per month.

That is also invite only in an indirect way. DCB clearly mention income requirement as:

Age: Min 21 yrs & Max 60 yrs; and Income: Net Monthly Income > ₹1.75 Lakhs per month for salaried customers
Age: Min 21 yrs & Max 65 yrs; and Income: ITR > ₹21 Lakhs per annum for self-employed customers

Infinia does not mention any such requirements as it is an invitation based card.

HNW customers can proceed through their RMs, if they are eligible. Indeed, it’s not a straight forward option like other cards.

I applied few months back they offered LTF. It differs based on mode of apply.

OK.Thanks for the reply.Currently spending 1 lac in 90 days can make it LTF as per my understanding.

I don’t think hdfc downgrades a card to a ltf variant. If you are happy with your current millennia card then keep it & don’t upgrade.

I have checked with HDFC CC team and my RM – upgrade is not possible from any Diners variant to a Visa variant.

If you meet all the other requirements (income, profession, etc.), you can work with your RM to close your Diners card, and then apply for an Infinia. And Infinia is not something they give out as LTF.

I got lifetime free (with no min spends). For getting 2k voucher too it’s not mentioned anywhere to spend 50k.Is both offer different?

For every quarter they have the activation offer. Not sure when it is ending. Even they didn’t inform me about this activation offer. I got to know only after receiving the voucher.
I can’t confirm about the current offers.

What is so enchanting about infinia? Especially, it is free only after a spends of ₹10L? Point value is between ₹1 to ₹0.30 depending on where you use. Maybe for people always on the move, needing unlimited airport lounge access. For the rest how this is something to die for?

dcb is mostly useless now..i got mine upgraded to paid Infinia from LTF DCB … however there are few spend based targeted offers going on DCB

Both DCB and Infinia give you 3.3x rewards. DCB is heavily devalued but for most of the transactions, including smartbuy, you will still fetch much better returns than any other CC (except Infinia). These are 2x on weekend dinings and also give you 10% discount on dineout app.  Annual memberships (Amazon Prime, Club Mahindra, Times prime, etc) and Monthly milestone benefits are the cherries on the cake. And if you travel even sometimes, since these are super-premium credit cards, you get exclusive entries to lounges (unlimited), even at those lounges which won’t allow an Ace/Fk Axis, etc cardholders.   There is a dedicated hotline number for all your cc-related queries and concierge. These cards are hence, a no-brainer, if you getting them and can afford them without charges.

Did exactly the same thing.

That said, this hasn’t made any real-life difference for me just yet; it was just an aspirational thing to get my hands on an Infinia card. Now that I have that card, it’s like mehhh kinda feeling.

Advice to other folks on DD: If you are happy with your current CC, don’t chase after these so-called super-premium cards just for the heck of it. However, if you have a clear plan of how to maximize your rewards, then probably it makes sense.

Cheers!
