Please suggest if anyone already using.

I need to purchase Jio Fibre but my reason to buy is to get mainly DTH channels.

1.Are channels given through DTH or through internet.

2.Do we need to pay extra for DTH channels(I don’t see any channel list in package)

3.If channels are through internet then is it I have to use OTT apps only like for sony open Sony LIV and for zee open zee5

Yes.

Currently they play the channels via OTT apps. One major source is their own JioTV+ app which has majority of the channels (eg. Travel XP, History TV etc…)
Star channels through Hotstar, SOny Through SonyLiv, comedy central, colors etc though Voot and so on.

Yes smile

However there’s a feature which I like. You just say the channel name to play it.

STB will work only on Jio Fiber network. It will work irrespective of the plan you have. So if you have most of the OTT apps sub then using a lower plan is more intelligent thing to.

Internet

Comes free with the plan you choose. So which channel is free will depend on base plan chosen. You can also use your own OTT subscriptions.

OTT apps required.

Thanks a lot for your response. So in case I pay Rs.399 plan(because I need only DTH not heavy usage of internet) then it will not help since I need subscription of OTT apps otherwise I can’t view any channels. So Rs.999 is the only plan where I can get OTT. But stil do you suggest me this connection since it will be easier to browse channels through DTH channel number instead of getting into OTTs.

Main question to ask is, do you need broadband? If yes, then you can opt for this and discontinue your DTH. If no, stick to DTH.

Thanks. I need broadband but usage of DTH is more than broadband. So do you still suggest to take this connection and do we ger major channels on jio tv app on TV

Do you already have DTH?
If yes then why switch. The installation & security deposit will be extra burden.

If your broadband requirement is just for mobiles, then I guess mobile data is enough. If you want to use it for TV/Streaming or also want good reliability for work and all then take broadband.
eg. If I stream on TV via mobile hotspot the quality will be bad on mobile hotspot and you will be worried about spending your data limits. Even for work, many people are there who need to do loads of data transfer, it saves time on high speed broadband. Identify such requirements before you decide.

What other major channels you are looking for .. I can check it out for you. I did give an idea in my previous post.

1. Sometimes it buffers, depends on the App and your Plan.
2. Data is counted towards your monthly usage.

I have almost never witnessed buffering issue on JioSTB on JioFiber connection, surprisingly, on other device, i have faced buffering issue.

I think they prioritize traffic from JioSTB so you will enjoy buffer-free experience even on 30mbps plan on this device.

You need app subscriptions to enjoy tv channels and I think app subscriptions + 30mbps plan would be cheaper.

You should go this route only if you want smart tv features, also watch a lot of YouTube on tv, and want to enjoy broadband, and of course other OTTs, 4k content, etc.

Otherwise stick to DTH for simplified and limited experience.
