Yes it seems after looking at companies promotion, in the morning i was afraid to open the freebie packet got from instamart (who knows if they deliver condom @tappukepapa ) but later it came to be a dry date, wet date for @rajarew

If we start generally speaking, any retailer uses these popular days like Feb 14/Valentine's day to sell their primary interests (aka make profit) and they could be anything (Clothes, Apparel, electronics, gifts/greetings, hotels & ... + of course the ones mentioned in OP too) but what appeals more to people varies from person to person.
Physical intimacy is also love but this alone isn't enough for a healthy relationship.

Fyi, "Valentine's day" is named after Saint Valentine. He was a bishop and a physician. He refused to treat his own fatally sick mother because she would not give up her belief in the pagan God Jupiter and get baptized. The disease killed her!
