Is it possible to Downgrade MIUI 12 to MIUI 11 without unlocking bootloader and without being a victim of hardbricking the device ?
Device Redmi note 7s. Running on MIUI12.0.1.. and i want to go back to MIUI11.0.5 which is my previous version.. bcoz of lots of MIUI12 bugs.
Im sure that my device has “Anti-rollback feature” enabled.. so why getting feared to downgrade. Also i dont want to go with any custom roms as of now.
There is no youtube tutorials for downgading (especially for my device)

I heard its possible to downgrade by selecting “choose update package” from my stock updater and choosing the rom downloaded from internet by erasing entire data. But i doubt will it hardbrick my device.. (My device is not under warranty)

Thanks in advance pray

Never used Xiaomi devices with miui.
But heard they have some sort of anti-downgrade mechanism which may softbtick ur device.
Known as ARB.
Beware of that. Otherwise you’ll have to boot into EDL by testpoint method to unbrick ur mobile.
It’s always advised to unlock the bootloader before doing any experiment cause the recovery from unlocked bootloader is much easier in case of ARB affected device.

Xiaomi has blocked off EDL access as well by limiting it to only authorised PCs (as opposed to authorised accounts ) from what I can tell.
It’s better to put with up MIUI’s flaws than take a risk with downgrading and potentially being left with an expensive paperweight as service center folks would be of no help at all. Otherwise unlocking the bootloader and trying a custom kernel is an option as well. More than a few support MIUI.
Xiaomi.eu builds are reportedly good and can be tried. Ofc custom ROMs are the best solution in most cases.

If you have that Choose update package features enabled on your phone, you can proceed without much worrying, but I think that option is removed from MIUI10 I remember. Otherwise you can downgrade using Mi Flash Tool. Google or XDA for more related information

That option is disabled by default.. but we can enable it by tapping on MIUI 11/miui12 logo 3-4 times in updater page.

My device is never detected in mi flash tool🥺
Have drivers, usb debugging enabled bl unlocked still nothing. Tried that power on +volume up down thing. Still no sucksex. Anyone knows what might be the issue?

Is it detected in ADB? If yes switch to fastboot mode via "fastboot reboot bootloader " (minus the quotes ofc) and it should be detected by Mi Flash tool.
Otherwise you need to take care of the drivers. The drivers in the installation directory of Mi Flash tools itself are enough.

what are the issues in MIUI 12

Lots of animation in ui.. especially smooth scrolling in settings-menu which makes irritation to my eyes and it cannot be disabled even from developer option.
Eats up lots of ram due to this unwanted animation which makes it as poor ram management and app getting force closed automatically, while using itself.

I will strongly advise you not to downgrade as due to anti rollback, your device can be go dead. To revive it from dead, you have to open its back for flashing ROM through EDL mode with test point ( two point shorted for detection in PC) But even if you do, flashing is not possible without MI authentication. If you go Mi service they will not deny to flash your ROM as you have breached anti rollback policy. They just say motherboard will be replaced. The only solution is to go to local mobile repairers, they will flash with EDL. They keep some kind flashing dongle which works in flashing any phone.
I last September, I Redmi note 7 pro got dead due to anti rollback. In my case My RN7pro got due to dead battery which I had replaced it later from Mi center. I was flashing MIUI ROM & suddenly the battery got fully dead which leads to the phone totally dead. The mobile repairer charged me 600Rs for reviving my phone in working condition.

Redmi note 5pro is the only phone that can be flashed through EDL by you easily without MU auth. as there some old ROM available for it which has no anti rollback since it was lunched on naught. So you can easily bypass it, but the same is not possible with those which lunched with Android oreo or later version.

Downgraded successfully using fastboot rom by flashing method. So far going good.
Bootloader unlocked and non-rooted note7s device.

Nice. Applying for bootloader unlocking in case of Xiaomi devices should be a priority even if one doesn’t plan to root and/or flash a custom ROM. That way other than a hardbrick you won’t be at the tender mercy of Xiaomi.
