E-comm, social media platforms to delete personal user data after 3 yrs: Draft DPDP rules
Digital Personal Data Protection Act's draft rules proposed that fiduciaries like e-commerce, gaming and social media platforms erase personal data of users three years after it's no longer required. Platforms will have to notify users at least 48 hours before data erasure. This will allow users to log in or re-initiate contact with platforms if they wish to retain data.

Data of people will get deleted who wants to delete there account. Present users data will not get deleted.
Good initiative just like GDPR
BUT
Probably no way to check if they really delete it from their servers - we have to take their word and no one believes these corporates
They would have sold all the personal data to data brokers long before that and monetized it
very good initiative our tax money is put to right use
not gonna work, it defines the principle of online document storage of virtually infinite lifetime with power supply without interruption
not a good proposal (i would say)
this is not some paper documents to be burned in 3 years or 15 years as in govt departments looool
I really hope that my Amazon purchase history can be available for longer than three years, even after this new rule is enforced.
Customers should have the option to opt out of the data limit or whatever it is called, so we can keep our data for more than three years.
It would make sense for limiting user data to three years to be the default setting.
Every now and then, I want to look back at my entire purchase history year by year and see how much of it was just wasted spending and what I truly didn't need.
