Rafale sells 30 of their fighter jets to Egypt for $4.5 billion. That too, the payment is spread out across a period of 10 years. Recently, Greece bought 18 jets for aout $3 billion.And our country purchased 36 jets for $8.5 billion, claiming additional costs for customisation/enhancements which they could not explain n finally Taayi admitting that the Rafales were standard issue when she was the Defence Minister.Obviously, there will be some differences in the models, but buying at twice the price? https://www.trtworld.com/africa/france-to-sell-... negotiation skills by our PMO right? All other countries just got the plane. Nothing else that makes it a fighter aircraft.
High end variant of even a car would be almost twice of basic variant for eg check Kia Sonet

Like any other party I am sure kickbacks were there but may not be that much as REMOVED barks
As if others buying these jets are powering their jets with pigeons, no need of any specific changes/enhancements and their planes don’t need any maintenance!! All deals are inclusive of customization & support / maintenance. Any military equipment bought by a country will be customized to their specific needs!! And it’s a lot more expensive in those countries to maintain than in our country!
The only change in our order was to build them here, to bless some gujju, you know who, instead of building in a govt setup (again, you know which).
Good to see you admitting that there is corruption/kickback in this deal. Now that is a start where the followers begin to agree that their lords are not as honest as they showcase themselves.
I don’t give a damn to which party, but such high level deals shd get scrutinized, and I am highlighting the need of a strong & knowledgeable opposition which can make it happen.

I got no knowledge to comment on technicalities of aircraft sysyem…. Bt 1 basic thing ni understand is if govt uses dis fund to hire scientist or fund drdo… paying salary at international scale to those scientist then can’t we develop it ourself

Major problem in India is mindset. Only in the name of patriotism, one can’t survive. Since childhood we are taught to become earners (high salaries in private or govt jobs). We see corruption all around. For everything we have to pay extra. So when bright students graduate, they don’t look to contribute to country’s economy or status. They look to earn the most and Dollar conversion is huge attraction.
Some bright people who join Govt agencies are pushed aside, left to rot in the Red Tape of bureaucracy (every govt is same as the bureaucrats dont change). They eventually are fed up and leave for better prospects or become like their oppressors in the long run. Plus India do not have huge budget. Just compare ours to any developed nation. We can cry loud that we are better than China or Japan, but the ground reality is that our per capita income is not much better than most African countries. To top that more than 90% of our population do not pay taxes. No government would dare to tax the farmers. I am not saying the poor farmers, but tax those filthy rich farmers who own multiple sports cars and portray themselves as victims in our country. Most MPs/MLA has lakhs of rupees income source as so called farm income which is completely tax free. Obviously they wont introduce tax to pay money from their own pockets and since our grandfathers time, there has been nothing but politics using the farmers. These are people whose multiple generations have not paid a single paisa tax and they wont be easily willing to start now.
If you see reports, more and more rich Indians are leaving India. There are many reasons, one of the major is though paying heavy taxes, still get treated like trash in public offices and get no service properly. No rational way of getting things done and no good way of life. Blaming 1 person or govt is easy, but the fact remains that the rot in the cultural mindset which is not easy to clean.
There are hardly any entrepreneurs in India (few names are there like Tatas, Mahindras, Birlas ) and the govt does not have money to invest. Everyone is business man and they try to suck out all the money they can at the first instance their business becomes profitable. No startup have grown to big business in India (as far as I know). They just sell themselves to the foreigners. earn fast money and retire.
