I recently bought an Ola s1 for 1.2 lakhs which gives roughly a 90-95 KM range and a top speed of around 80 km. let me tell you my views on why I bought that.
I have to commute 60 km on a daily basis. Roads in my area are fine. I also owned a petrol bike which was giving a mileage of 65 km. If I use the Ola bike, I will be saving around 100 Rs. daily. The Ola bike's battery has a warranty of 3 years or 40000 KM(Whichever comes first). Roughly I will be saving 70k rupees(Counting only petrol price for 40k KM) if I travel via electric bike. To charge the scooter from 0 to 100, it uses electricity worth 20 rupees and on other hand, the electric scooter doesn't need any servicing or mobile oil.
In my calculation, If I can ride the scooter for more than 50k KM without changing the battery, it will be a profitable deal for me.

Which could go down

The ola scooter has led projector headlamps, very very powerful. The high bear throw is amazing. So more safety. In addition to the headlights you're also getting Disc at the rear with a larger tyre, the same size as the front tyre that is 12". Usually on activas, access etc. The rear tyre is 10", 12" ensure more safety, speed, and cornering. Makes a big difference. The tyres are also better on Ola and ather than the paatroll scooters.
Huge trunk space on the Ola, very comfortable and premium seat cusion and cover. Led tail lights and indicators are all bright leds which is safer.
Electric scooters offer a lot more features, Ola has music playing capability, it has speakers on board, it has themes and also sound which is calibrated with the throttle in case you want your silent electric scooter to make a sound, bluetooth to control from phone on the ola, proximity unlock, hold fucntion on incline, the scooter does not roll back on steel ascending inclines, regenrative breaking on declines, regenrative breaking which will help to save cost on brake pads, reverse, cruise control which is also very helpful if you're riding on roads with less traffic, electric trunk lock and unlock, riding modes, handsfree calling with speaker and mic on the ola scooter.keyless entry and lock.
I made a comparison with my maestro and tvs iqube, it took 7 years to match the price...
Means after 7 years, iqube will be costed same as maestro in petrol and it doesn't make any sense.
So either wait for them to get cheap, with high range and strong trustable quality, else choose conventional scooties.
Engine wala is better as upfront costs and battery replacement cost with EV is much higher.
You may consider having one after 3-4 years, the prices will come down heavily and these might be dominating the great Indian roads 😌
I will not suggest Electric Scooters if you live in an area which has drainage issue in rains (whole india likely)

I bought two months old Bajaj chetak ev at 115000/ I drove it almost 7000km so if you consider mileage of an ice scooter around 35km per litre in city I recovered already 21000rs in 4 months I hope I'll recover its cost in 2 year after that it will become free of cost so it depends on situation if you get a good deal you will recover the cost soon.

I think resale value of Electric Scooter will not be much.
