Emergency alert on Phone: Did you receive any emergency alert on your phone today? Here's what it means

The Indian government sent a test emergency alert to smartphones nationwide today. The message read "emergency alert: severe" and informed recipients that it was a test and no action was required.

On Friday morning, many mobile users in India received a severe emergency alert from the government. This was part of a test of the country's new emergency alert system, which is being deployed by the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA). The test message was sent to a random sample of smartphones across India, and it caused users' phones to emit a loud beep and display a flash message that read "emergency alert: severe." The NDMA is using this test to assess the effectiveness of the alert system and to identify any potential problems.

I had same on my mobile in Delhi. Sound was so loud and frightening, I was in office. I thought my mobile is about to burst.
Then checked on google quickly and found the actual reason and calmed down.

I have closed it now on my mobile forever.
