exorbitant train cancellation charges by MMT

I booked train seats for 3 persons in Jan via MMT and need to cancel for 1 person and I noticed that MMT is charging a good amount overall for cancellation.
The charges are high especially the payment gateway charges.
Here's a breakup:

So even after the rupay cc discount, it doesn't make sense booking via mmt in future.

The said PG gateway charge is what you agreed to pay at the first place, obviously the exact amount is going to be deducted while ticket cancellation by user.

For ticket with cancellation potential, always use irctc(minimal PG) or Amazon(40 agent charges, fastest refund if paid via Apay balance)

Amazon started charging agent charges too now ? I think Amazon was the only so far which didn't charge anything extra, but looks like now it isn't...
For a normal ticket, which would now be the most economical way to book a train ticket ? via IRCTC, it shows 20 for UPI which isn't bad, and 30 + card charges (0-1%) if done via dc/cc which isn't that great. Any other options ?

U can book via imobile app or yono... Currently no agent charges.... Or hdfc smartbuy.... U will get 5% cb too... On hdfc debit card/credit-card

You still have to pay 1.8 percent + tax for using Amazon Pay on irctc. better option would be to directly book on amazon if the total booking amount is more than Rs. 2000 and just pay the Rs. 40 agent service charge.

This seems to be incorrect. why would PG charges+Agent SC+Conv. fee be doubled here? ideally if a refund is processed then PG charges are adjusted prorata according to actual amount which is ticket cancellation charges here.

I don't think IRCTC will do anything for the payment gateway charges, It's customers preference if they want to use it or not.

I don't see any issue. You paid 3100-500 = 2600. Cancellation charges 210 makes it 2390.

Other charges are always non-refundable.

I agree the calculations are correct but the payment gateway charges are high. Better to use IRCTC website rather than falling for these 3rd party apps.

Right, seems almost 7%. Is that 221 for just one ticket?

Mostly it is 1-2.5% only.

yes for just 1 ticket.
I wonder for 2nd cancellation if they'll levy another Rs 221 as payment gateway charges.

Lol why did u book it then😅.

For me, i was seeing 2.5% charges. Even then i didn't use it (even with 10% offer).

Hdfc Smartbuy doesn't charge 40 rs service charge and gives 5% cb or 3x points also.

@22sumit

First of all, You Paid their Payment Gateway Charges of Rs.221.89 for the Booking.

At that time didn't you think there is Very High and Unnecessary Charges?

Still, You have gone ahead and Booked the ticket and Now for Cancellation, you want the refund for Payment Gateway Charges, These Companies take IRCTC also they don't refund the PG Charges, Convenience Fees then MMT Kis khet ki  Muli hai?
