it’s not gmail access.
It just wanna fetch the email address associated with the current google account on your device for security reasons.
It won’t be able to read or send any email from your email address.
recently i opened fi money account.. Today i have shocked to see that..a popup displayed ,asking Gmail access..
how on earth they need my gmail access..a third grade bank asking my gmail access..WTH..

As you are already aware, it’s a third-grade bank, then why are you still holding its account to date?

How you came to a conclusion that I’m holding this account from longtime..I have opened this just 10days ago..
Using this for daily payments like 50rs, 100rs UPI payments..to keep my primary account statement clean..

Nope..They are not asking to sign-up with Google for security reasons..They clearly mentioned they can read emails from specific merchants.. BUT WHO KNOWS..

Paytm is far better for that, either open their payments bank acc or simply link some zero balance digital acc like kotak 811 there to paytm upi.

I think Fi won’t read our email…
But Cred do….😅😅
Anytime You can remove third app access if you don’t want
dont ever give email access to any app not even cred. they will steal all your personal info and either use it against you or sell it to another company who will again use this against you
There’s no issue with giving ‘Basic account info’ google permission to any banking app.
Infact it makes the login process more secure.

Doesn’t matter what they ask, what matters is what Google gives them permission to; As @ZNZ clearly stated with pic, Google only gives them permission of “Basic Account Info” which is basically the permission to just login via Google and get the basic details which is already public;
Unless you have a different access granted/permission to Fi, it’s the same for you (However do confirm via your Google 3rd party access permissions, coz something like Slice takes different permission based on the user)

It’s fine to remove as well , i removed mine 5 minutes after opening the account and it never asked for it again nor did i face any issue.

This didn’t work out for me; When I revoked Google access for Fi, it immediately logged me out from my app and forced me to grant access again; Anyways not an issue for me, I have already given basic info to Truecaller, toh Fi kya cheez hai XD

Maybe i was lucky that i removed it as soon as opening the account so it didn’t fully register my google account yet
