I have a full HD 32" TV at home. Planning to buy either a android box or fire stick. I need these features.

1. In addition to streaming from apps, Ability to watch own movies from inbuilt storage (does mi box and tv stick has storage and does it play popular video formats?)

2. 4K and Dobly audio.

3. Access to indian channels (any apps give free access to english/kannada channels? )

4. Laptop mirroring since i do lot of presentations (i can compromise on this feature)

The former may not be the best fit then.

1. Internal storage is 8GB (usable much lesser) on both devices but with Mi Box u can attach external storage devices via USB 2.0 (You can get this worked with fire tv stick too via Ethernet adapter, bit complicated)

2. Both are 4K capable + Dolby Audio

3. No Idea

4. Laptop Mirroring (Wireless) from Windows to AndroidTV (/ Fire TV Stick) is not a good idea. Its much more convenient from Chromebook to AndroidTV (via Chromecast or from a Chrome browser (Windows) to AndroidTV. Fire Stick got this screen/display mirroring feature by default ( Enable Display Mirroring on fire sticks, use project/cast option on Windows )

Best option IMO is the wired option via HDMI. Even with much faster internet, i wasn’t satisfied with the output of remote streaming (depends on the content)

Wouldn’t recommend Firestick maga. I have it and am not satisfied. Thought I should have bought real Android stick then.

Thanku. blush
For the external storage on mi box, does it play formats like mkv, MP4 etc…? My 8 year old LG dvd player wont play mkv and other popular formats loaded from usb drive.

Thanks maga. I plan to replace cable connection if I get good source which streams Indian channels smoothly.

Also which Android stick/box you recommend if any.

I think Mi box was the best available from what I had looked at back then.

FS4K all the way.

Had a FS. Sold it and got FS4K for some great benefits.

See my thread:

Nice info. Does Kodi app have all indian launguage channels? Does it cost subscription? Does this fire stick has bluetooth or remote sharing so that file can be shared from mobile/laptop wirelessly to FS

1. @dealstaar  Maybe. Research Kodi addons. I am unaware.

2. No subscription costs with Kodi.

3. You can install apps in FS to share files using WiFi. Faster way is: fill up a Pen drive/External HDD from Laptop and connect it to FS. Mirroring is there too.

Have bought a mi box in this sale as in long-term firestick becomes sluggish I already own a mi box imported from China in 2018 I bought another one for my other bedroom, also I owned a Firestick in the bedroom 2gen remote stopped working it was lagging as hell the UI and remote app wasn’t working completely unusable and new remote costs only 100 less than buying a new firestick which made no sense.
