Planning to take 4k 55 inch tv. Right now using sony 42 inch with 2nd gen Firestick
Doubt- what if i use the same 2nd gen firestick for 4k tv?
Is it ok or is it compulsory to take 4k firestick for 4k tv?

It’s compatible. But i wud lik to know picture quality given by 2nd gen firestick on 4k tv.
