Read a interesting article today, that india current demand is 5500MT/day while production is 7000 MT/day. It’s a case not able to allocate demand, or in other words people without brian are sitting out there

That’s very sad I also came to know about few people not in my direct circle that they are keeping some cylinders.
I know with the fear it’s obvious.
But literally everyday people are dying due to the oxygen shortage which these could have helped to save their life’s.

Production isn’t the issue but transportation is; we don’t have enough vehicles to transport it, import is the only way but sadly no immediate recourse.

Buy an oxygen concentrator before it’s too late if you are covid positive. It will be needed after 5-6 days and by then be ready with it.

Why govt allowing individuals to buy… Only allow hospitals

Who are you to judge that I don’t require it?

My father is in critical condition his Spo2 saturation level is below 80%. With 220 BP.

Will you take risk if your father will be in this condition?

Just stop judging man

I always help the needy person

Whatever you’re saying I understand it better than you so spread this gyaan somewhere else.

Online prices are very high now. I had booked 1 for 34k but seller cancelled saying no stock and now selling same at 61k. Still check amazon or flipkart for philips everflo somewhere between 50-60k.

That’s the failure of govt na. They can’t create the transportation infrastructure/empty oxygen tanks in last 1 year. No news channel is covering this and in normal conversation, most of the people think india don’t have enough oxygen to provide.
They spend some 20k crore for parliament building, some lakh crore for pm private aeroplane, helicopter for bengal rally, but nothing for oxygen tanks/trucks.

It’s really astonishing seeing so many private oxygen suppliers (many new ones) grown overnight but the hospitals can’t procure them from anyone?? rolleyes

Citing shortage or no oxygen is the reason people/ resellers starting to hoard them for any premium, IMO.

Who is to be blamed here?

Huge panic, improper health infrastructure to handle such pandemic and definitely hoardings and black marketing.
All of the above things are playing together to create the situation we see right now.
I was listening to doctor’s yesterday not all the patients need oxygen even though they might fell breathlessness which they can recover but due to huge panic no-one wants to take risk but it’s those who are on heavy flow oxygen where even the supply rate change to them can be fatal.
Our infra was never pandemic ready and at this scale it’s fully collapsed (even those who had best system in world couldn’t handle it) so even though we might have good supply improper infra might be a cause that’s it’s not reaching the needy.
At last all this panic and demand has given a chance to the predators who always wait for such situations to shell out money even out of dead bodies.

This may not always be true. One of.my friends bro of 56 something age had lung transplant and they needed to keep O2 cylinder at home-kind of ICU at home due to patient’s condition. This is since almost 2 years

I was not refering to them bro.
Currently due to this panic people are buying cylinder just to keep them if in case they need it in future.
Just read the topic title itself what op saying.

Remind me of an old animated movie, Dr Seuss – The Lorax, where the richest & powerful person in the city was the villain selling oxygen.

We are already heading toward it soon or later it will be a reality.
Just look at the world’s top most polluted cities.
Out of top 30 cities 22 are from India and out of 50 cities 35 are from India.
