Something doesn't add up!! If scams like these are a reality then almost everyone here will get scammed everyday (Thanks to websites and courier partners selling our names, phone numbers to scamsters)

Why would any person send you 4500 out of blue. flushed
type of transaction (debit card, upi, neft, imps etc) ?
bank name ?
check statement and tell what is written in description?
dispute that transaction with bank

if transaction start happening like this global financial system will collapse. please be as descriptive as you can while asking for help.

Have you downloaded any software? Or you scaned qr sent by him and entered upi pin?

Other wise it is not possible to transfer from your account.

Delivery partners and other companies selling data should be banned forever. Or they won’t learn. I ordered Mamaearth product of around 700 rupees and next day after delivery I got a scam call from some lady telling me I won an iPhone by Mamaearth. All I had to do was pay award claiming fees 😂

Bro ask her to pay u award winning fees n tell her to keep the award (iPhone) 😀

He might have lost some memory, coz of that sudden shock. Try to remember what else u did apart from giving ur mobile number. Relax, first call ur bank for temporary block and then go to your nearest cyber crime station and get an FIR.

cyber crime, serious fraud investigation, CBI ...all are of no use..Did a lot of follow up. No one's there to listen. I probably will leave this country, if I get a chance.

I think in OP’s case, the guy sent a collect money request on UPI and he entered the pin. Just my theory. I can be wrong but remember always you don’t need to enter any pin to receive money.

PAYTM and other UPI apps blocked collect money requests from  P2P...

Maybe he sent collect money request through merchant app..

If he called you, he already had your number. Why would he ask your number?

Are you sure you didn't share any other information?

It seems OP is trying to say, person called on his phone and asked the number (in SMS - OTP)  bcoz this is a real bouncer. Hope the culprits get caught and Op gets his money back.

@shaurya4354616 Btw why don't you put the fraudster's number here.

In the updated Paytm app, When you're on call and try to make any kind of payment via Paytm then it will flash a alert message regarding scam. This is something i have not seen in others apps as of now. Good initiative by Paytm. Not sure if other dimers know this.

Last month for the very first time I got a direct scam call from a scamster from the number 9883787628 saying that he is calling from Indian Bank and was asking something about debit card. At first I didn't realise that it was a fraud call. I said I don't have an account in Indian Bank. After that he started asking which Bank are u having an account. Then I simply scolded him and disconnected the call and immediately blocked that number. When I searched for this number, I saw a similar complaint in Twitter.

This happened at the time when Axis Bank where I do hold a Savings account and credit cards, without my consent did a hard check in CIBIL for a loan and started calling me for pre approved offers and also IDFC Bank where I dont have any connection checking my CIBIL score for applying a credit card. Was also receiving a lot of spam calls from various finance companies regarding loans.

I don't know if all these things are inter connected. One thing is for sure. Some one has leaked or sold my KYC details to these fraudsters and other finance companies. Although we tend to be aware of such fraudulent activities and are careful against such scams, it never feels good receiving such calls. It must be very difficult for those innocent people loosing their money unknowingly.
