Frauds getting bigger and wider

I came across one website offering food worth 500 at just 50 Rs.
Having read about the scam that happened earlier, I was very sceptical but they had menu of Pizza Hut, Domino's, subway etc.
I was apprehensive but still decided to give it a try.
I blocked my account and left only 79 Rs in the account to debit 50 Rs.

They tried to cut 34000 Rs from my account. The transaction didn't go through obviously but message I was getting on bill desk gateway was that you are being charged 50 Rs.

My card got blocked permanently. To lure people on payment page, they had extra offers like use ICICI credit card and get 1500 voucher.

This is just Foodaura scam repeated with different name.Screenshot2023-09-09-18-11-39-91680d03679600f7af0b4c700c6b270fe7Beware of these food scams. I got saved because I had read about this, still got sucked in to trying because of greed.

The amount of scams in Google ads is mind blowing. I don’t understand that no one talks more about this.

This format of scams is the most riskfree and hassle free for the fraudsters. The amounts are also kept reasonably low < Rs. 40000/- so that the cyber cell and police can ignore and close the registered complaints without taking any action.

In the ultimate event of the URL getting reported and blocked as a phishing website, creating a new domain name and replicating the website and linking the payment gateway to the new URL can be done in a few minutes from the comforts of their homes without any significant expenditure. And they continue to defraud 1000s of victims in leaps and bounds from Foodoraindia to Cromafresh to Freshfork to....... etc.

This is turning out to be the safest business model for fraudsters with minimum upfront investment and is likely to continue for several years unrestricted.

Soon they would be recreating fake login web  interfaces for internet banking, Amazon, Flipkart etc. and capturing username, passwords, OTPs for carrying out fraudulent transactions.

There's further potential for telephonic calls based frauds as it's now possible to display any caller ID of choice in VoIP calls.

anybody who is involved in netbanking and online shopping is now a potential victim, sooner or later.

Those who don't talk about it are involved in this or that type of fraud. Frauds have always existed, but in the past decade the rise in the number is staggering. They themselves will get defrauded very soon by bigger fishes. That's what I'm waiting for.

To those of us the notion of defrauding is baffling, PLEASE, just be EXTREMELY CAREFUL at every step, if not, it might end you. Stop clicking on random/clickbait links. 🙏

Awareness is critical.

Even after reporting I can still see similar scams on Gmail.

Either Google wants to teach us temptation control or want us to go senile.

People in India are the dumbest andhbhakts with eyes closed, Pretty easy to fool them by Politicians & Frauds.
Fall for anything like beggars without even thinking and on the other hand when any merchant i.e. Flipkart or any other merchant ask for Adhaar card+ Pan Image, They question their demand and act like American & Canadian Citizens. I mean FK+ AZ already have your Adhaar number & Pan number. What will happen if you given them image of Pan+ adhaar for Verification.
Jagah jagah baat ke aate Hain apne documents tab kuch nahin hota police station, Shopkeeper, Ekyc, VKYC, Challan, Hotels. Lekin jab Flipkart email pe maang le toh sophisticated ban jaate hain, they be like :-Why should I give my personal information?

Please Link all the scams/frauds in DD in single post and pin it at Top in Dost & Dimes. With the speed scams are increasing, This needs separate place.

So that dimers be aware of all the latest fraud and stay away from getting lured.

Google and OLX actually ignore such scam reports and OLX just banned my account because I used my another number bcz I forgot momentarily.

But they never took action against sell/job scammers... Even when I reported with whatsapp conversations proofs to their support email. On the contrary, they blocked my mail address as spam for sending 3 mails within a span of one month (for reporting a particular aggressive Hyundai job scammer).

On the positive note, Indeed actually improved!

I think there should be separate section to post only such threads.

no one talks more about this

Not everyone encounters it. And majority don't get trapped. And since there is no incentive in educating others as it's not worth it, nobody bothers.

There you've got it all wrong. For e.g., I don't talk about it that does not mean I m in it. People don't have time to talk about it and

The most interesting bit in the OP's post for me was this line -
message I was getting on bill desk gateway was that you are being charged 50 Rs.

I am suspecting it was not really BillDesk but a spoofed site because BillDesk would have the merchant (i.e. scamster's) details when they signed up to receive payments. Plus BillDesk won't show you Rs 50 and charge you Rs 34000.

Within seconds of entering OTP, I got confirmation call from ICICI.

Their system is very good.

The phone officer advised me to block the card.
