I am holding SBI Simplysave (6 yrs old) and Simplyclick card from SBI. Both have annual charges of Rs. 499+Tax. Got Simplyclick just before the launch of SBI Cashback card. I applied for cashback card too but its rejected. So, I was thinking to close one card & reapply for cashback card.

Today, I have placed "card closer request" for Simplysave card. Got a call instantly from SBI customer care. He asked the reason for card closer. I said - its because of annual charges. He gave me an offer to make it LTF if I do not close it. For the time being I said ok for it.

PS: Seems they're easily converting 1 out of 2/3 cards as LTF via closure requests

Did you check if it is indeed free? Will they send the new T&C in writing? They will say LIfe Time Free but with a rider to spend min xyz amount per year to keep it free.

Purana (card age) ya bada khiladi (high CL, lots of spend history) nahi hua to SBI card aisi hi reply deta hai...

I think they even wait for chances like this (customer initiated) to weed out minnows and increase profitability... @shraaj

@goldenheart how you approach them to close your card . Due you any dues jn your card . And what the first cc told you?..

I called them today.. and asked to close account they said you fee is due from april you can use your card meanwhile and just create card closer request from app and we will close it..

I have both SimplyClick (2021) and Cashback (2022) card. So yesterday night I had requested to close SimplyClick card.

Today morning I got a call from SBI card. He asked why I wanted to close the card. I told him that I don't want to pay for both card. He insisted to not close the card. So I asked him to make it LTF.

He then told that there is no LTF option on this card. And said that I have already spend 99K and if I spend 1K more the annual charge will waive of for next year. And even if I don't want to spend 1K more, if I raise a request they will waive off annual charge (subject to approval).

What should I do now? Keep card for 1 more year as charges will waive off for next year and try again to make it LTF next year.

Or should I try again now and be persistent to either make it LTF or close the card?

My service request is closed today. But no communication received from SBI. So, called SBI CC and asked the status. They said it's free now. Any other way to check the LTF status from our side??

Today i called cc and had clear talk.. she checked my card simply save card(old card but not using much now) and told that your score is low so the ltf option is not visible for you.. so keep on using the card and once the score goes to high we will get option to convert it to LTF..

Then i asked her to check my simply click(a year old card) which i used frequently.. but not much though.. she said score is medium on that card . If you keep on using this card frequently for 3-4 months.. you will get LTF option on this card..

On both cards i am getting offer for fee waiver.. not for LTF

Not sure what's the truth.. but she was looking.. she is giving me correct details..
