Got offer to make SBI card LTF

I am holding SBI Simplysave (6 yrs old) and Simplyclick card from SBI. Both have annual charges of Rs. 499+Tax. Got Simplyclick just before the launch of SBI Cashback card. I applied for cashback card too but its rejected. So, I was thinking to close one card & reapply for cashback card.
Today, I have placed "card closer request" for Simplysave card. Got a call instantly from SBI customer care. He asked the reason for card closer. I said - its because of annual charges. He gave me an offer to make it LTF if I do not close it. For the time being I said ok for it.

Now place a card closure for SimplyClick too and try your luck ? 😛
PS: Seems they're easily converting 1 out of 2/3 cards as LTF via closure requests

Did you check if it is indeed free? Will they send the new T&C in writing? They will say LIfe Time Free but with a rider to spend min xyz amount per year to keep it free.
Having one simply save card. But fear to request.i am not using this card frequently. if they close without asking anything means loss to me.

I also told them to convert my card to LTF or Increase the Limit otherwise I would close my card because my other cards have reasonable limits and better offers/RP and they are LTF and you know what the Principal Nodal Officer told me,

Purana (card age) ya bada khiladi (high CL, lots of spend history) nahi hua to SBI card aisi hi reply deta hai...
I think they even wait for chances like this (customer initiated) to weed out minnows and increase profitability... @shraaj

@goldenheart how you approach them to close your card . Due you any dues jn your card . And what the first cc told you?..
I called them today.. and asked to close account they said you fee is due from april you can use your card meanwhile and just create card closer request from app and we will close it..

raised req. for closing from sbicard app,then they will call u, just say i want to close becoz of the annual fees, they might make it LTF

I have IRCTC & Simplyclick cards and only the IRCTC one is more than 2 years old
