Happy Diwali to all DD friends and family !

Diwali is the biggest festival for Hindus around the world. On this day, people light lamps and burst firecrackers, and exchange greetings and sweets among friends and family.

This year, Diwali falls on Monday, Oct 24, 2022. It is believed that on this day Lord Ram and his wife, Sita, and his brother Lakshman returned to their home in Ayodhya after fourteen years of exile. To celebrate their homecoming, all the residents of Ayodhya welcomed them by lighting a lamp in their homes.

Since then, Diwali started being celebrated with great pomp across the country. Diwali symbolises positivity and joy. Before the arrival of Diwali, people clean their homes, buy new clothes, jewellery and make Rangoli, and light lamps in different places. Goddess Lakshmi, Maa Saraswati, and Lord Ganesha are worshipped on this day and people meet each other and feed each other sweets.

Laxmi Puja day falls on the dark night of Amavasya. Even though the night is dark, people make it all the more bright by lighting hundreds of Diyas in line and they offer a large Diya with lights in all the four directions to Goddess Laxmi so that their life is filled with light from all directions.It is believed that Goddess Laxmi comes to earth that day and blesses those who light Diyas on this dark night and worship her from heart. She walks through the green fields and showers her blessings on people in abundance and blesses them with prosperity as well.

Laxmi is the Goddess of wealth and prosperity and she is worshipped for promotion, success and personal virtues. People worship her for spiritual prosperity and material abundance. It is believed that she helps remove the troubles that prevent people from moving on spiritual path or carry on their businesses.On Diwali, Laxmi is worshipped along with Lord Ganesh, who symbolizes auspiciousness and wisdom. She is also believed to be the God of education and knowledge along with wisdom and wealth.
