T- Vijayadashmi ki hardik shubhkamnaayein
There are four Navratris celebrated throughout the year. This Navratri was Sharadiya Navratri, observed on the season of Sarad, first day of Ashvin month Sukla Paksha.Shailaputri, Brahmacharini, Chandraghanta, Kushmanda, Skanda Mata, Katyayani, Kaalratri, Mahagauri, and Siddhidatri are 9 forms of the Goddess, who fought battle with Mahishasura on each of the 9 days of Navratri respectively. On the tenth day, Goddess Durga kills Demon king Mahisasura. For years women have been weaponized for their sexuality. Every battle, that has been fought on earth, has seen unspoken atrocities towards women. Women’s capability to produce a human child has been exploited as their weakness. Goddess fought with Mahishasura for 10 days, starting from the first day of Navratri. But Goddess could not defeat the demon king. Demon king was granted boon that as long as he bears a weapon in his hands nobody can kill him. Goddess Durga undressed herself right infront of him. Mahishasura now filled with lust drops his weapons. Goddess Durga kills him with his trident. This is how the feminine power defeated the atrocities. It’s the perfect example of Igitur qui desiderat pacem, praeparet bellum ( From Publius Flavius Vegetius Renatus’s tract De Re Militari. modernly known as Si vis pacem para bellum). Obviously the situation was different and was highly unconventional. But that quick execution of unconventionality paved the path to years of peace and good governance in three worlds of Hindu mythology. We don’t only celebrate women power. We also celebrate women, the way they are. Unfortunately today women are exploited and made feel sorry for the very power they have. This trend must stop.
And today is Vijaya Dashami. After 5 days it will be Kumar Purnima. In Odisha, we worship moon God. Girls celebrate it in a big time. This a video representation of the day
And after 15 days of Kumar Purnima, we will celebrate Deepawali. The celebration starts from Amavasya and ends with Amavasya. During Navratri, entire world was sick of the dark forces. As every day progressed night became a bit brighter. On the climax of the battle, finally the night sky is finally lit with 10 days old Moon. On Kumar Purnima it’s the brightest. And the cycle ends on Deepawali, another amavasya. We celebrate Goddess Kali on Deepawali.
It’s a beautiful beautiful philosophy. We come from the darkness n spend some time in light and we gotta go back to the darkness. In Sanatana Dharma darkness does not mean evil. A ton of things happen in darkness. Goddess Durga and the entire world had to suffer entire 9 days of darkness to finally see the light. And citizens of Ayodha had to wait for 14( rectified by @Common-Man bhai) long years to finally be with their beloved king Shri Ram, that too on the dark night of Deepawali. 🙂🙏🙏On Vijayadashami, Lord Ram killed Dashanan Demon King Ravana.
On this day, Arjuna defeated entire Kuru army.
Same day in three Yugas e.g. Satya, Tretaya and Dwapara has played crucial role in Sanatana mythology. Stories of bravery, patience, sacrifice has been with us as legend. People take inspiration from those things.
In Bengali culture, we offer Vijaya Pranam to our elders by touching their feet. Shuvo Vijaya. People worship their vehicles too. It’s called Ayudha puja.
