I’ve lent money and got it back. Whether you get it back depends mostly on the person you’re lending out, their financial situation and your relationship with them. If you’re unsure, it’s a good idea to take a post dated cheque as security before offering help.

Lent to relative and lost it.
Lent to a friend and lost friendship.
Lent in good faith when it was needed badly... Got in bits but trust remains... Help when possible but within what you can afford to lose
