My Dell Inspiron 5570 Laptop suddenly became blue(black) screen then immediately restarted 2 to 3 times and thereafter thrown No Hard disk error within no time.
Please suggest me any remedies to resolve this issue if possible otherwise suggest a low suitable HDD or SSD within a reasonable budget.

1st check if hdd is actually dead using Linux live usb or windows 10 usb installer.

If hdd is actually dead, then buy 240gb Kingston ssd. I brought on 1st may on Flipkart at 2499 (-10% off hdfc).

Your laptop has M.2 NVMe slot (512 GB)
Replace the OS drive with Samsung 980 NVMe SSD (~5k on Amazon.in – Effective*)
https://www.amazon.in/Samsung-500GB-Internal-So...

For verifying the drive, check what others suggested
LiveUSB or Connect this 2.5" HDD to another laptop/pc (via MB sata port / SATA to USB cable / HDD enclosure)

Thanks for guiding me. To install windows 10 in USB, we need any license key? I don’t have any license key as the laptop came with pre-installed windows in it. Please guide me what to do.

Update to my HDD issue: Yesterday, I could boot it but within hardly half an hour it once again crashed and displayed the same error no hard disk found. And I noticed lot of heat at the bottom of laptop but I am novice to figure out it’s cause.

Bro I mentioned a software in my earlier post & give a suggestion which is by far the most informative/objective suggestion given in this thread & you didn’t even acknowledge it. Don’t take it otherwise but when posting queries on tech issues related to pc components you need to show some sincerity to actually useful suggestions related to trouble shooting instead of focusing on buying new hardware/deals which is also alright but then make your thread title something like “want to buy new hardware” or clearly mention that you are interested in buying new hardware instead of spending time on troubleshooting old hardware(I understand many people don’t have free time/patience for this).

@rohit_agarwal does it mean that the hard disk is dead or not yet dead or still I have to run Linux live usb to conclude it? or else, the problem is completely lying somewhere else like battery, fan etc.. what’s your opinion..

Install Puppy Linux on USB and boot your Laptop from that.
Backup important files and see if you can live with Puppy Linux for few days smile

Tool to install Puppy on USBhttps://github.com/noryb009/lick/releases/tag/....
Puppy Linux ROMhttps://puppylinu...m/

- Puppy Linux is a lightweight linux distro which runs completely on RAM and is pretty fast even if you’re on old hardware.
- Even if your HDD has failed, you can live with USB bootable linux if you need machine just for casual browsing.

No problem, crystaldiskmark is for benchmarking hdd/ssd(basically testing speeds). Use crystaldiskinfo & post the screenshot of the values here using sites like imgbb.com or you can directly attach the image using desidime mobile app.

Forget about.. trying to know what’s wrong with your drive
It took you almost a week to get the drive booted (even though its temporary).. you may not even get this chance again (The drive is dying? )

First thing.. you need to do right now is to take backup of the important files ( Even if u can get 30min more, that should be enough to take a backup ) and then think about the rest

+1

I used to ignore those clicking sounds from HDD which lasted for 6+ months. (2015)
I was so lazy ass to backup my files to external storage and one day my HDD died without a warning.
I lost all my files and data which had some fake MobikWIk accounts storing some thousands confused

The very first thing one should do is backing all the important stuff, rest comes next.

Please go through the attached image and let me know what to do next. I could barely hold on the laptop in ON condition for 5 to 10 minutes, within this short time also temperature soared from 38 to 44. There are yellow colour background things in the report which I can’t understand.

The drive is toast. In CrystalDiskInfo, go to Function>Advanced Features>Raw Values and switch to 10 [DEC].
Attributes highlighted in Yellow are a matter of concern. Unfortunately all the worst markers are present. Try to backup important data if any if you haven’t already and get a new drive. Preferably an SSD as the OS drive.

Thanks a lot for elaborative reply. Is 128gb or 250gb SSD enough or else I have to go for higher capacity must?

Try posting a new screenshot.
128GB isn’t comfortable in Windows 10. I have allotted 80GB and after hibernation I am left with only 10-15GB. I have installed all my games in another partition and I don’t update often.
Plus there’s a significant difference in speeds and endurance between the two. For most SATA drives 500GB is the sweet spot but 250GB is OK. For NVMe 1TB but 500GB is OK. With the latter it’s possible to run into thermal problems depending on the laptop particularly in case of high perf. drivrs. Samsung 960 series had this issue. In my case the inadequate cooling in my laptop causes temps. to soar above 80°C for any disk operation lasting more than a few minutes, which admittedly isn’t common, causing performance to absolutely crater. SATA drives are a safe bet and in most cases it’s hard to distinguish between the two other than running synthetic benchmarks. Ofc if the price difference isn’t much then NVMe is the better choice if thermals aren’t a factor. The newer gen. NVMe drives with a 14nm controller should be better thermally.

Yes the drive is dying. The internal HDD in my laptop is showing one Current Pending Sector count. If and when that gets resolved it would then show one Reallocated Sector count. Rarely the drive might then continue working for years or die suddenly in a little time. If the no. of these errors increases continuously it’s time to bid adieu. In your case it’s pretty high.
P.S. This is a Seagate, right? How many years in operation?

I think if you login with a Microsoft acc. the key gets tied to it. Next time onwards it’s seamlessly activated. I have also read the key being stored in the BIOS.

Once again thanks a lot for elaborative reply. OS in my laptop is a pre-installed one. How to secure it or its key to use it later after replacing the hard drive. Moreover, is there any feasibility to repair my dying drive, let me know it too please.
