I think this is best option for security purpose. Will help much to avoid high value frauds..
Example : If user is having credit limit of 10 Lacs, he can fix limit of 30-50K, as per our regular requirement. This can be done through netbanking itself. And as and when required, user can withdraw sublimit / net limit through net banking and get transaction done.
User can set their own sub limit:
“Credit Sub limit” means the total credit limit than can be utilized on your credit cards as per the defined frequency.
“Credit Limit per transaction” means the maximum amount that can be spent on an individual transaction.
If the existing daily or transaction limit is zero, then the full credit limit is available for usage.
User can set their own net limit:
The “Limit Per Transaction” means the maximum amount than can be spent on your credit card on an individual transaction.
The “Daily Net Limit” means the maximum amount that can be spent on your credit card on a daily basis.
If the existing daily or transaction limit is zero, then the full credit limit is available for usage.
Long back I asked SCB for similar option, but it was not possible during those days. If same option is available with other cards too, then please inform..

Yes, I use this feature. Can be very helpful if case of a fraud. Also, HDFC CC is damn fast. Today I initiated a payment on massdrop and got a call from CC within 30 sec to confirm the payment was done by me. They always do that in case of a international payment.

now, one can even block/limit international usage of their hdfc credit card
International usage limit/blocking option has been in existence for atleast 2 years now. But if you disable it you can’t generate netsafe cards.
Some banks do have this daily limit and per transaction limit for netbanking.
RBL card also provide an option to control credit limit.
Yes… Option is there on HDFC Cards/
I just Setup International Limits & Daily Limits on my card
@sunnie Bro, these features were there from long time. It’s good that you shared what you found. Limits are provided by most banks for debit/credit card and even some banks have netbanking limits too like PNB, SBI, etc which let you set limit for no. of netbanking txn in a day, max. amount etc.
With HDFC, if we disable International usage then Netsafe VCC can’t be generated with CC or DC. If you do international txn then better use netsafe. My HDFC DC Intl usage is disabled but CC is enabled as mostly I generate it before doing txn. Similarly ICICI too have VCC for CC users but it is one time VCC which can be reload unlike HDFC which is one time use card. That way original card number stays safe. Until now have never used my CC directly on any website. Recently HDFC sent me new card as old one is expiring next month. I have Axis CC/DC too and they also allow setting limits thru netbanking since 2012.
Hi there,
I am bumping an old post just to ask if there are other cards on which you can set transaction limits like with HDFC (and Axis)? I didn’t find this option in CitiBank, SBI or even ICICI! Any idea about Standard Chartered? Also, is this feature being available on Axis Credit cards confirmed?
Thanks!
for AXIS bank credit cards , you have to generate eshop card to use online.
for more info : https://axisecard.enstage.com/WSWeb/uti/log...sp
for SBI users: in SBI net banking has option to generate e-cards (
though not sure about SBI credit card users)
for Citi bank: I dont think any option available to generate VCC or set limits.
No Idea about ICICI.
Thanks for replying but I am not asking about VCC
Do the physical credit cards of SC and Axis bank allow credit card sub limit/daily transactional limit modification as is allowed by HDFC bank credit cards?
I dont think
I can see that option only at RBL & HDFC credit cards only
Yes
HDFC Netbanking is the most convenient and user-friendly in this matter of setting net limits, sub limits, enabling/disabling international transactions, setting international limits, setting sub limits for add-on cards, providing heads-up for international travel in terms of dates and regions visited. Safest to make international transactions on HDFC credit cards as you can disable international transactions as soon as not required, thus preventing chances of fraud and headache.
Are you Parag Shah from hdfc?
I have been using my HDFC Regalia Credit Card mostly for international transactions. But from the last 3 to 4 days I am facing one problem. Whenever I perform multiple international transactions (5 to 10) at the same time, suddenly the card blocks itself out for a temporary period of time by failing the last transaction it has processed. That means it doesn’t allow me to perform any further transactions at that time or you can say for 24 hours or more. And the most bizarre thing is the last payment which was failed before it blocks itself out, I get a confirmation call for that transaction from HDFC, and even if I confirm that transaction the payment doesn’t process through. And that amount of money gets deducted from my credit limit but doesn’t show in my unbilled amount. I don’t know if it will show in my statement or not that is yet to come, but I don’t understand exactly what is happening here. Any idea on this what might be happening? And is there any kind of limit for multiple international transactions in a day??
What is difference between sub limit and net limit?
example:
If bank had offered 10 Lac as credit limit; you can set another amount of limit within that 10 Lac (may be 1 lac or 2 lacs)
I wish Citibank India would launch this feature. They do not even allow to set limits for the add on cards!
