HDFC agent offered me regalia cc on phone, with an option to convert it into LTF if I register for HDFC ERGO, through Easy EMI on the new card.
After 1 year, I got to know that cc is priced and is not LTF at all!!
Kept calling them, sent emails, been to the branch but the bank kept parroting the same thing:
In line with our focus and commitment to Customer Service, we trust that this Grievance Redressal Cell has addressed your grievance in a fair and equitable manner and the issue has been resolved to (y)our satisfaction.
I complaint RBI about how HDFC gets to have its own satisfaction in addressing our concerns. This was on the 2nd Dec. I received 2-3 calls from the bank on the 7th December.
Today, I get this email from them:
bq. We observe that your credit card issued during xxxx basis your online application and the same was delivered to your mailing address on xxxxxxx. We would like to confirm that the applicability of annual renewal fee was part of the Terms and condition. Also, we wish to confirm that the member ship fee was detailed in our product feature panel within the Net Banking application form. Accordingly, your card is issued as Priced credit card and from the subsequent year onwards, if the card account is spent for an amount of Rs. 3,00,000.00 during 12 months period, the card account will be considered for waiver of the renewal fee. Hence, the applicable membership fee levied in your card account. We have taken note of your comments expressed in your query. To resolve your query, we have converted your card into Life Time Free card. Henceforth, you will not be levied any membership fee / renewal membership fee towards your card account.

I have already made these points in the complaint to RBI but she kept parroting the same thing:

Which terms and conditions? The one given by the agent on phone right? Because, those are the exact terms and conditions I was briefed with.

wrong. I didn’t apply through net banking. Agent did from her end. Explained this to them 10x times but may be some language problem. Mine was plain English.
Accordingly, your card is issued as Priced credit card
nope. no. nahi. ledu. illai.
But anyway, the card is now LTF as per their email above.
Is there a way to confirm this on net banking?
I want to thank DD for providing a platform to connect with people/friends who have had similar experiences and knows their stuff in dealing with such situations.

Advise to people who are issued cc from HDFC:
Make sure you get a confirmation in writing that your card is lifetime free credit card if you signed up for the same. Don’t go by their words on the phone.
