Hi, Dimers!
My brother-in-law has an Infinia credit card. Yesterday, we tried to redeem his reward points for Tanishq Jewellery vouchers. According to HDFC, the value of 1RP will be ₹1 if we purchase Tanishq vouchers. However, on the redemption page, it was shown that we had to pay 30% of the voucher value from our end and the remaining 70% will be paid with points.
He recently got the card. Considering the above information, is this the best way to use our points?
We are not looking for any loots, but what are your suggestions regarding redemption?
Thank you for your time and inputs, especially on a lazy Sunday afternoon.

The 30% payment by card holder + 70% by points is a standard procedure by HDFC.
As for if it is the best use of points, can't say. I typically use my points for travel purchases (airlines and/or hotel stays).
once in a year , hdfc give offer for amazon vouchers at 0.70 p instead of 0.5. its better.
if used for travel/hotel then on 30% paid by card u get 10x again(daily/monthly limits applicable) - this is the best way to redeem
for tanish voucher too you get 5x RP on 30% spend because it's done on smartbuy afterall?

Anybody who has infinia can let me know how to upgrade from regalia. I have a high balance (3-5L) in my HDFC account but ITR is 12L. Hence, facing problem. If anyone can help in sharing if there's any way to upgrade from Regalia to infinia. I'd be indebted

OR high spends on existing HDFC card (around 7.5L in last 6 months) with good existing limit (8-10L)
OR give then high value FDs (15-20L)

Its random and you may not even get notification of the offer
In 2021, offer was for 1st to 3rd Oct
In 2022, 23rd to 25th Sep

by following right people on twitter

I've an infinia with 11.5L limit. Previously used to hold regalia and utilized at least 10L in the past 1 year and they've offered me regalia since 2019 end.. Due to covid I didn't opt for upgrade and now upgraded to Infinia metal. So, to sum it up.
1) Try upgrading SB to Preferred or Imperia(friend has imperia and got infinia)
2) Utilized 80% of limit every month
3) Try to spend 7.5L in previous 6 months.
4) Talk to RM casually and see if you're eligible for an upgrade
5) Regalia limit should exceed 8L
6) Don't accept diners black even if they offer.
I would request you not to fill the form since the ITR is 12L. No need to go after HDFC for infinia, unless your lifestyle is extremely extravagant I see no reason to upgrade to Infinia. Post devaluation it's not of much use except for the metal status. Wish you all the best.

After devaluation what is the effective cashback rate for infinia on Flipkart/az?
jain01010199 wrote:Nope. They've devalued drastically. If you use flights, hotels uniformly then there are chances of getting up to 15%. For now they've removed Amazon from smart buy so there's no 5x RP. For FP, I think 3x or 5x.

If you're not spending 10L every year and paying 12,500 + GST you'd be able to recover the GST amount through all these RP.
