HDFC Smartpay - when does the debit happen?

I have an electricity bill payment set up on HDFC Bill Payment section to be paid with Easyshop Platinum Debit Card. The debit is supposed to happen today but the BillPay page shows "Smartpay Scheduled" on today's date but the debit has not happened so far. So my question is, when does the debit actually happen - towards end of the day or beginning of the day?

Yes it happens on due date and it is almost instant. I’m not sure on debit card but for credit card they credit in 2-3 days

The debit happened today morning and thankfully the utility company got the credit in next few minutes. Only thing left now is receiving the 5% cashback as this is the first BillPay set up with this debit card.
