Which laptop? And post link of exact ssd? How does it fit once when it worked? Didn't you check the size before ordering? Best option is to get a case

If it worked one time, it will work second time as well unless the hardware is faulty. Have you checked the bios when your laptop doesn't boot? try to see if it's detected or not. It might be simple boot order issue or mught be something entirely unrelated to ssd. You have to check all the variables and share the details so one can suggest you a better fitting solution. Also as it is a SATA ssd make sure the usb enclosure you are ordering supports SATA ssd (not all do)
