I had purchased a Hindware Calisto 50 L Desert Air Cooler (FSN: AICFERMY7WWWAZYZ HSN/SAC: 8479600) on April 1, 2021 from Flipkart.

Within 1 month of the purchase of the product in April 2021, the pump stopped working and as monsoon set in early in 2021, I waited before the repair request and filed the request ACR1900650 on January 17, 2022 so that the cooler can be ready for use this summer (2022). After multiple calls to the consumer care of Hindware, the service request is never provided. Instead on March 19, 2022 after 90 days from the original complaint, I was sent a text message saying “Dear Customer, your call No ACR 1900650 has been cancelled per your consent. In case the issue is not resolved, please call 1800-103-3300/+91-8069-166-666. HINDWARE

When I filed the complaint again on the same day (March 29, 2022) , a new complaint was opened at ACR2016354 and on March 31, 2022 a technician came with an old pump which was broken from the top and replaced the existing pump. When I asked why a broken and old pump was being installed as a replacement, he smiled and said, your warranty is valid only for a few days and it will work until then. But the pump stopped within 10 minutes before the technician could leave the premises. Now the warranty expired on April 1, 2022 and the service center (Phone number +91-90301-12267) refuses to do service. The HINDWARE customer care keeps on saying the complaint is already registered. The technician Shamsher Khan (Ph +91-62999-35223) would not pick up my call.

My consumer care grievance docket number is 3396535 at consumerhelpline.gov.in. i have written tens of emails to:

[email protected]

[email protected]

I called the customer care numbers hundreds of times:

i have called the service center hundreds of times:

+91-90301-12267

It’s been 97 days and i don’t know what else can I do. This is a nightmarish situation.

Try filing complaint on consumerhelpline. gov. in with all these email addresses. They will come back to you requesting for closure. Had similar experience with GM and they got back to me after raising complaint.

Oh. Sad. Then check for CEO or MD’s email address and try sending them an email.

I don’t think it was a wise move waiting for several months before filing a repair request.

it was not. We are all wise in the hindsight. Our local guy charges 1000 for 3 months cooler rental. In the hindsight; i should have just rented.

And pump costs 300, the person who’d install will charge 400, it’s a 700 int proposal not 100.

buy new water pump from local store for 150-200.

remove 2 wire of old pump.

Join and tape 2 wires of new pump.

Dont take tension for small issues.

Do you repair your appliances even when they are under warranty? If you do, that’s a very special case. I don’t know anyone else who do.

It’s okay. I was not hoping for any help from you guys, so your ridicule doesn’t bother me that much. It was a cautionary tale for others, good luck with that!

I didnt mean to hurt you in any way bhai (if you found my comment sarcastic)
Couldnt send my comment with a tone online.
Just wanted to say that there’s nothing much brand would do once the product is out of warranty (for whatever reason, valid or invalid).
Only consumer redressal services would help (if ever)

Even simple thing as a Tawa/ girdle, if bought online, we prefer Amazon.

Because at-least they ‘stand in’ as a co-guarantor of sorts (for FBA orders), if warranty is not provided by the seller or the brand.

Although the non-stick tawa of Prestige itself is pathetic quality, that peace of mind is there thst Amazon would try to co-ordinate on our behapf OR just refund (if the sale terms are not fulfilled/ warranty denied).

@sb584012 Launching online complaint to consumer forum isn’t enough.

One has to piecemeal collect records of ALL correspondences, communications in a chronological order and submit it to one’s district level  (consumer) court.

And then they play the date on date game. (tareekh par tareekh)‏‏

I think the Amazon India of the first few years has pretty much ceased to exist. What remains is still a little better than most other local ones though.

True that!😔

Now Amazon simply lets the vendors of Cloudtail /real sellers directly ship it from their own facilities and  then lots of issues crop up.

To top it all, Amazon India is now like BSNL. Only management might be direct employees. Customer Care, Risk Investigation, even ECR is transferred to other private entities.

Even if on-paper the employees are of ADCPL, they actually are re-purposed from the NorthAmerican process or newbies.

Frustrating as it is for us, i also feel for them.

Sometimes they do not know even basic policies of Amazon.

As for Hindware and many others.

They are operating like Housejoy.

Some local business wins the service center or franchise rights.

Thereafter the brand doesn’t care

as to who they hire or send as the technician.

Calls that require an OTP/ Happy code to mark as closed… too get closed by the backend (without the customer providing the happy code).

Same thing happened with my parents but on Eureka Forbes aqua guard bought from offline reliance electronic store.

They weren’t this terrible before but from last year, they’re horrible. Thankfully, an old plumber knew how to clean and fix the filter.

Important Instructions:

1 Create an account and write everything in details in the “Register complaint” section and attach invoice, complaint details, emails to the company and other screen grabs to the complaint. Your complaint will be expedited in case a) the company is in consumer helpline database in your desired segment b) if it is not in the database for your product/service segment, if you are able to incorporate email IDs of CXO crop and customer care emails and other emails, and phone numbers of customer care, service center etc

2 Convert any jpeg, jpg, png or other image file formats to pdf (you can do it online) and attach them instead of images. Name these pdfs simply as invoice, mail or 1, 2, 3 etc, while the names do not matter, if you have “.” in the names, the complaint will fail to register.

3 The site will definitely time out so save any written words to a note app and then start afresh once it times out. You’d probably need 4-5 attempts before you are able to save the complaint. Save the notes from the note app for future reference.

4 SMSHELP” to 8130009809 once you have registered the complaint online and Consumer Helpline executives will call you back in a few days and they’d find out the basic details and correct the entry if you have done it incorrectly. i had bought it, installed it myself once some of you suggested. It’s working fine and that’s why i have now lost interest in what the company is doing. And i know as a matter of fact that it would never be serviced. One can talk to these service centre thugs once and understand this.
