Hotstar Super vs Premium

My VIP plan is about to expire soon. I was wondering what’s the difference between super and premium with respect to the “Number of devices that can be logged in”.

For super and premium it says 2 and 4 respectively.

The overall FAQ seems to be a bit confusing. . Does this mean only 2 devices can be logged in at a time? Or I can watch on only 2 devices but keep the login in multiple devices?

If for example, I tried watching using third device, will it automatically log me off from the first device?

Nice question.. would love to know too.

I believe it means simultaneous streaming, rather than logged in devices as the FAQ literally says.

Tagging few dimers for help if possible:

PS. I don’t intend to share or get in a share.

only simultaneous watching, same as netflix

Device restriction is with regards to simultaneous streaming. So in 2 device plan, third device will not be able to stream content. You’ll get an error message.

Only 2 devices can be logged in at a time. If you try to login in a 3rd device, it will log out in one of the existing devices. In my case i have one account logged in TV and other in Mobile. Whenever I try to login with a 3rd device it automatically log out from my Mobile irrespective of when I logged into my mobile.

Hope this helps

Not in my case. I am on VIP plan where it’s only 1 device at a time.

None of my devices get logged out – mobile, TV, tab

So they themselves better than netflix.

Only 2 devices can be logged in at a time, irrespective of how many are actually streaming at that time. So if you use on more than 2 devices, every time, you will require to log in to the additional device and one of the earlier devices would get logged out.

With VIP plan, login on 3rd device doesn’t log me out of other 2
Another reason here could be I haven’t updated the apps after the new plan introduction

The reason I’m asking is their faq is confusing. Same questions, different answer

Did some tests:

  • 9 devices logged in to the account.
  • successfully ran parallel streams on 5 devices.. didn’t bother to run more.
Ran on tv + mobile + tablet + desktop + laptop

Hotstar premium account renewed in May 2021. Do note that all running from the same Home IP.

What happened if you tried running on 6th device? Did it automatically logged off device#1?

It costs a whole lot of money to go through data streams in real-time, just to hurt a customer a little bit. They will enforce the limit on best effort basis only.
I’m sure you can’t continue watching for hours at length on all devices

Probably you are right. But I remember even last year, on the old preimum plan.. I used to be limited on 2 parallel streams. So several times in my household if 2 TVs were running hotstar, I used to get an error on other device which I tried on immediately.

Maybe they have done something based on IP, just guessing.. due to rampant sharing of accounts.
