I have an LTF Regalia and just received this card upgrade offer.
Why would anybody bite into this? ie: take a paid version of an inferior card?

It’s indeed an upgrade and a superior card than Regalia but not in paper.

It is not a superior card than Regalia. I extensively make use of the domestic and international lounge access (for family too through add-ons).

You are a rewards guy, he is a cashback guy, that’s all.

Yes regalia is a better card overall.
I also made use of its domestic and international lounge access and it saved me lot of money. (Not in last 2 years)
But for people who do not travel, have limited spends and do not use international lounge access or are not into points game for them millennia is better with simple reward structure.
I personally will always keep Regalia.

Millenia also has lounge benefits right

Limited to 2 a quarter, only domestic and not on Add-Ons.

Then Regalia is indeed better for you. But many don’t use lounge access and do online shopping mostly so for them Regalia is a downgrade to Millennia.

If you are speaking only in terms of cashback as redemption option then millennia does have a higher reward rate, but now with 5x reward points on regalia and 4000RP/month limit regalia will give better overall reward rate (except cashback ) .

It totally depends on how you want to redeem the points.

Yes, in terms of cashback, I am getting 2%-3% easily on my spends including other benefits.
How mastercard ?

My Regalia is a Mastercard (got it before the ban). So any upgrade will also be MC.
I also have similar case. Will staybwith regalia because my purchases are not on monthly basis but generally bulk ones at a time. If i go for millennia, there is a capping of 1000 points which is not the case for regalia. Consistent spenders can use millennia otherwise regalia is a better option
i asked CC to convert my regalia to LTF as i already spend 90k in 3 month and they said it will reflect in 3-6 month or before next year. and they said i am eligible for INFINIA upgrade which is not LTF. is there any benefit going to paid INFIA vs LTF regalia?

I would take paid Infinia with both hands. The points will make up for the fee easily.
Btw: can you see this upgrade on Netbanking? And what is your Credit Limit on Regalia?
I can’t apply for a credit limit or upgrade as my card was upgraded in Nov only. My regalia limit is 5.5 lac

Sirji cc number do..my dad has 11L limit will try luck with Infinia
they need to talk with their Relationship manager, i have salary account with HDFC so they assigned me a RM and i connect with her for any issue
I too received same upgrade option. Not getting ltf is a setback
