In most cases, it takes roughly 2-5 working days for address update. If it starts taking longer, consign yourself to waiting for that SMS message, if you call their customer care, which, for the most part, is worthless, they’ll just ask you to keep waiting.
But unless you’re desperately unlucky, 2-5 days.
For me it complete within 12 hours
Mine was completed in 3 days
i did a mobile number update in Adhar it took nearly 6/7 days
My mother got her name rectified and it took around a week, so I think address change would also just take around 6-8 days. If it takes more than 6-8 days then you can raise a query.
Luck , 1st time it took 4 days , next time it took 79 days for me
I recently updated the relative information in the address section and it took less than 24 hours to reflect.
How did you guys did it online?

Did you ever applied for change or your documents got rejected for any reason?? If this is the case you will be in trouble, you will have to go physically with documents and they may even ask you for reason (written).
My experience with Aadhar online update wasn’t great. I applied for address change in Nov 2020. There was no udpate even after 3 weeks. Cancelled the online request and placed a new request with a local aadhar enrolment center. address was updated in 3 days.
I tried to update Dad’s address online couple of weeks back. After 4 days, they ended up rejecting the request. Went to a local aadhar center and placed a new request. request was fulfilled within 3 days. If given a choice, I will choose go to a local center for any AADHAR related work.

Go to UIDAI website and somewhere in the dropdown menu there is “update demographic data online”. If you have a mobile linked to AADHAAR it can be used as they send a couple of OTP to login and update the data. Also they allow you to upload the required document proof.

It’s just a matter of going to Aadhar portal and choosing address update as a part of demographic update. When you click on demographic update, you get several options such as name change, DoB change, address change etc., just select address change, fill out your new address, upload supporting document and you’re done, just have to check status of request.
rakeshtvla wrote:Since you don’t have a phone number, you should visit some AADHAAR enrollment centre to add it first. As you are going there all the updating can be done from there.
Yep mate…

But you need your mobile no linked to your aadhar card right to make any changes online?
This isn’t my case

Ah OK, that wasn’t mentioned in the original post. In case you’re unable to receive aadhar based OTPs, then any updates ought to be done offline.
Good thing about offline update is that if it’s rejected, you’ll get a concrete reason why, instead of just that it got rejected for some reason.

Why would they reject my application even after verifying my original documents

Saying just in case. There can be many reasons for rejection. In the very unlikely case it does happen, offline update rejection carries a solid reason, unlike most rejection cases for online requests, where the rejection message is just something like “rejected”.
