How much time MI.com takes to process refund?

Hi,

I had ordered phone from MI.com but bluedart refused to deliver when I refused to show him ID proof. Can you help answer:

1. How long does MI take to process refund?
2. I paid via hdfc debit card so I"m assuming it’ll come back to my bank account and not some MI account, is that correct?

Are they taking snapshot of govt id. If they just want to check ur name in id card then its ok to show it

If he just wanted to check name and photo, I would’ve shown but he wanted to write down the ID Number. That’s why I refused. This is their modus-operandi to collect personal data of unsuspecting customers. They should start OTP delivery just like amazon. Will never order again from MI. Anyway.
Do you know how much time it takes to get refund?

I have purchased many things from mi.com .
Courier guy only ask id for verification . Nothing else.
Also few times I went to FedEx office to collect parcel ,then they also write down the id no.

He wanted to write down my ID number that’s what I didn’t feel comfortable about.
Any experience about their refund process/time?

Which id did he ask? I guess sharing a simple driving licensee would not be an issue, or is it?

Any ID. It’s a matter of personal choice. If others can deliver without IDs, they can too. It’s just they make your delivery a tool to extract personal ID because usually when your delivery is at stake people can go to any lengths to providing any id scans, aadhaar, money, going to courier office and what not. People are so desperate… in general

Why u refused id card

Because I don’t like to give my personal info (let alone an ID) where it is not needed. There are folks who don’t mind providing aadhaar, pan and other documents just to get  cashbacks of 10, 20, 30 and so on to all sorts of wallet companies…
Moreover, it also depends on mood of the delivery guy. Once I ordered a tv from flipkart and the delivery guy came home in my absence. He refused to deliver to my mom without her id. Then I asked my mom to not give any id and told the guy to take delivery back. He then didn’t bother and delivered. Such is the scenario…..

I remember myself providing Xerox of Id, when personally gone to collect package

Why did you go to collect? Delivery company is being paid to deliver at your home. What impression do you think you give them when you go to collect personally?

For delivering a phone from Mi , you should show any Of proof when you’re collecting from office only and also when it’s a prepaid order but in case delivered at your home then no need to provide any proof to delivery boy , just sign it and write your phone number and collect it smile

What if someone creates a fake ID proof of your name and his own photo with your address and collects your phone. Then who would be held responsible. The delivery person right. So to be on a safer side they sometime collect ID number.

Answer to your query.
Your refund will be initiated after your phone reaches to MI warehouse. And it would reflect into your bank account within 5-7 working days after the refund is initiated.

I had ordered one hd 599 on prime day, i was feely secure with otp method of delivery.

I was assured of delivery in right hands.

OTP is better. My phone number was mentioned on the outside of the delivery package so I asked this exec. to call that number to find out if I am the intended recipient. To this, he was speechless and said “no sir id proof is a process and everyone provided it and blah blah blah…”

You should have asked this on bluedart Twitter, why do they need id? Is this really a rule or their delivery guy made that up?

I must’ve got like 100+ couriers from different agencies in the past 3 years (Bengaluru) or so and not even once I was asked to show my ID card (excluding bank card deliveries)

Same here. I used to order via ebay and they delivered via different agencies and none ever asked id. But every time it was via bluedart, there was ALWAYS some problem. As soon as I see the tracking number generated from bluedart, I can be almost certain that it is going to be a problem.
