Hyperlipidemia can be genetic or poor lifestyle factors which include diet, stress, physical inactivity, and smoking & alcohol intake.
Follow these
1. Stress management - take out time to do things that you love to do & the ones that make you happy
2. Good proper sleep - meditation, yoga, etc.
3. Regular exercises including at least 30 mins walk per day or brisk walk and strength training
4. Limit total added sugar (max 24 gm per day for females & 36 gm/day for males), added salt (max 5 gm/day), saturated fats (below 10% of total calories).

5. Avoid refined carbohydrates, trans fats, packed & processed foods, red meats, alcohol.
6. Include whole grains, variety of fruits & vegetables, nuts, seeds, flaxseeds.
7. Adequate water intake.
8. Stop smoking if you do.
9. Get regular follow-ups with your doctors
10. Never ignore any symptoms
11. Do not try to replace foods with supplements - they are meant for additional requirements only when necessary/deficient.
Along with this add psyllium husk in your diet twice a day. It has to be taken immediately after lunch and dinner. It makes a lot of difference.
I found best safe treatment with Himalaya Abana. Give it a try and test after 3 months.
Say thanks then. Good luck.
I commented even before seeing your comment.
Completely agree.
Use Himalaya Abana tablet after lunch and dinner with warm water.
My story: Used herbalife products for weight gain. They worked but spoiled by lipid and I got hypertension that got noticed after few years.
And now i am on hypertension medication from last 5 years. Thats ok.
my LDL touched around 5 with high triglycerides. Used himalaya abana as a BP medicine but what I found it it is best to bring ur lipid profile normal.
try it
Here is what my doc told to do
Abana (as everyone already told)
Arjuna tablet /or powder also available (not for people with low bp)
Triphala after food
Omega 3 (started with daily now take twice a week)
Limcee 500 mg daily once (started with 3 in a day, gradually came to 1)
Niacin 500mg twice a week with folmet
A beta blocker (dont take without doc)
Drink lots of water
10 minutes slow walk after food
Garlic, tomato, apples and peanuts
Reduce sugar and salt
Cycling or climibing stairs qucikly or brisk walking (earlier i use to go to office on cycle but now I walk for 15-20 minutes every evening)
Stop tea but i drink with double toned amul and sugar free with black pepper
Other than that i use canola or sesame oil, stopped refined oil since covid came and use only cold pressed be it any oil.
Good sleep and no tension (only reason of my high levels and i am unable to control both due to job).
NEVER take any medicine without consultation with a doctor. Even if you want to go for Ayurveda, don't just go & buy on such recommendations.....consult a good Ayurvedic practitioner
This system of people recommending & others buying & taking ayurvedic medicines is very very bad. Same for any medicine.
No particular fruit or vegetable will bring down your levels...it has to a variety of seasonal fruits & vegetables.
Niacin should not be taken or even recommended like this. It can have serious side effects.
Climbing stairs quickly is again a bad advice - huge risk of falling & injury & no extra benefit. Do normal walk or brisk walk....can add some normal stair climbing.
No need to stop tea....just don't add too much of sugar. No benefit of using sugar free unless you are diabetic.
Use a variety of oil...good way is to keep changing your cooking oil every 2-3 months so u get variety of nutrients.
Good sleep and no tension are actually very important.
People believe that Ayurvedic medicines are all natural and all beneficial with no side effects , even eating tulsi leaves has many side effects .
Whats your take on Homeopathy ?
Hood Ayurvedic practitioners are hard to find .. most of them are quacks .
I suggest you to take proper action after verifying the report with other lab as well. Idk about 1mg but pharmeasy gave me a headache after results but the other two labs gave normal result.
While Triglycerides level can be controlled by diet control, it's very difficult to change Cholesterol levels of your body. Increasing HDL and decreasing LDL is possible only with regular 30 minutes+ aerobic exercise/walking/jogging. Atorvastatin tablets are the last resort. All other ayurvedic/homeopathic treatment have failed miserably in tackling Cholestrol issues.
Personally have been trying to bring down Cholesterol levels for last 10 years but they have remained around 250. HDL remains low. Daily hard physical exercise of one hour did not help. Haven't taken any medicine as well. Although tried Rosuvas tablets for one month, which did the perfect job and levels came down instantly. But haven't continued. Have taken ayurvedic tablets for several months in the past without any benefit
Two biggest factors: sugar and refined carbs/junk food cause high LDL and triglycerides and eating a diet high in processed/ready-made foods especially outside fried food which uses reheated oil. Who knows if restaurants and food brands reheat oil or not? If you see their kitchens you will get a shock. Eat wholesome natural foods, home-cooked, healthy fats instead like nuts or nut butters, and avoid products with trans fats, avoid too much saturated fat also but in moderation is ok. Keep your weight and fat percentage at a healthy level.
I was 122 kg since childhood with high BP and high cholesterol.
Now 70 kg and toned, all vitals - BP, blood tests, cholesterol in range, not even borderline high. 🙂
How? What you choose for weight lose?
Exercise and/or cardio can't compensate for a bad diet.
Recently got cholesterol levels of my parents checked for the first time ever. I expected it to be a bit elevated in case of my mother due to steroid administration for close to 2 decades on account of rheumatoid arthritis but surprisingly it wasn't. LDL, VLDL and TGL were well within normal limits but HDL was concerning as it was under 40mg/dL which is considered High risk for females. She is pretty slim other than the unavoidable increase in waistline due to steroids. Also taking medicines for high B.P. since last few years. Her rheumatologist who is very experienced never suggested a lipid profile test!
In case of my father all the values were above normal levels esp. VLDL (43mg/dL) and TGL. HDL however was significantly again lower than normal and in the high risk category. At least that was sufficient evidence for him to take his health quite seriously. To be fair he had reduced his weight from 75+ kgs (in similar range for the last few decades) to 65 in the last few years but waistline was still concerning at 36" which is risky for Indian males.
Recently VLDL has also been deemed to be significant in terms of future risks of heart attacks.
There doesn't seem to be any straightforward way to treat low HDL levels when all other values are within normal range.
anyone tried arjun ki chaal tea ( arjun tree bark tea) it worked wonders for my uncle he had very high cholesterol and abnormal heart reports and tests .. he started drinking arjun chaal chai continuously for 3 months now everything is in control and the reports are normal .
P.S - I am not an expert or a doctor and not asking anyone to follow what my uncle did on his own risk though i believe in ayurveda
Check the tweets by "theliverdr" a Kerala based hepatologist who after coming across several patients who had suffered life threatening ailments due to Ayurvedic meds has embarked on a mission to enlighten others regarding it's dangers. Spending tens of thousands from his own pocket to get the "meds" tested which revealed extremely high levels of heavy metals like Pb, Hg, Cd etc. Recently in a tweet he described about a diabetic patient taking Gymnema herb (some effect on lowering blood sugar ) who was admitted with an unknown condition and was later diagnosed as hepatitis associated aplastic anemia which proved fatal. Gymnema is noted to be toxic to the liver. Several studies abound in the world by reputed organizations regarding heavy metal toxicity in traditional medicines.
He is now being hounded by the AYUSH orgs. for darling the bring the truth to light. The present government in the name of decolonization is heavily pushing traditional systems of medicines so it's unlikely to expect any course correction from it in this aspect.
Finally got my lipid profile test done today. As expected all the values were well below the thresholds with the exception of HDL which like my parents at 35-36mg/dL was in the High risk category.
