how to opt out from open box delivery in flipkart?
All orders in all of my accounts are being placed with open box delivery option only :/
is it because of pin code?! Very bad behaviour of flipkart, not even giving time of even 7 days to return/replace...
be it fashion or non-electronic! so strange!
HDFC started the trend of giving very less discounts (say 500, 750) during sale days by tieing up with either amazon/flipkart, now all card companies follow that.
Now Flipkart is doing this no even 7 days to return/replace option in the name of decide on accepting order itself! Amazon too may bring it!

Openbox delivery becoz people started to return products after using it for 1-2 days stating that they dont like product.
if a product is used even the local vendors dont agree to take it back when seal is broken.
so the returns are becoming much of a headache for seller coz of the huge seal opened inventory which no one is ready to buy (just incase if u get any item for which seal is broken, will u accept it?). same way they are selling u sealed product by showing product is sealed (openbox) then deliver. so if u have any problems with the configuration/something brand will provide u assistance.
for fashion products there is no open box delivery (as far as i know) unless the product is non returnable product (stock clearence mentioned on item description). coz size differs from brand to brand.

Repair ho bhi jaye seal new jaisa bhi ho jaye fir bhi accept karne me dikkat hogi..jabtak sath hoga item man me laga rahega pata nahi kisne open kiya. Fresh ki baat hi alag hai
Open box khud se hi kar lena.. ye to achha hai pata chal jayega seal hai ya nahi.. warna baad me pata laga to koi wapas nahi le jayega. I support this feature.. unless ghapla karna ho.. seal lekar bina seal wapas kar do 🤷

Username checks out.
Usually, you can still return open box delivery for luxury items. I recently bought a watch and it's strap was small, I kept it for 2-3 days and then returned it by mentioning it's small and they accepted the return.
If your return is not accepted you can call them and state that it was a gift for someone and the product doesn't fits them well so you would like to return it. In most cases they accept the returns.
Paying for return fee is a totally another issue, now they have started charging return fee for every item you return based on your return percentage, it always infuriates me.

So online shopping is best only when
1.price is cheaper and
2. stock of certain styles/product available being not available in local stores.
Biggest disadvantages are:
1. have to decide - wont know whether product will work for weeks/days (atleast till return date) Sellers can cheat now by selling days-long-working products.
2. have to be available at time of delivery, and have to carefully decide by seeing the entire product (even here seal is broken)...
3. my city delivery guys doesn't even know OpenBoxDelivery, and they start their bike instantly asking otp, and on saying it is OBD, still they say you call customer care and he can't take returns without we mark return....

never experienced this return fee... but that's a bad decision by flipkart asking for returning fee.... may be they are getting huge returns.

delivery boys are same everywhere no one's going to wait till we check the product, they dont even hand it over without OTP

I buy branded products online (wont buy any product without a brand name on it) so there is less chance that i may regret after buying. Even local shops wont accept return after breaking seal. But few instances flipkart/amazon allows to return product (within return policy)
I have opeted for Openbox delivery many times and returned them immediately without telling him the OTP. Coz if ur reason is right then u should convince them to take it back. He cant just take ur phone to see OTP then enter (it will be criminal offense) so they wont risk that.
Sharing OTP before checking product is ur mistake.
