I have an additional Jio number that I wish to permanently close. Does anyone know what is standard procedure or if anyone has done this before?

I’m aware of this hack man. Need to know if there is an official way to do it
I had one jio sim which I purchased when jio started and it was lost within 2 months .But today also it shows linked to my aadhar card /account.
People have working jio sim even after an year of no recharge. It’s strange we don’t have any official way to Surrender a number even though mobiles have been in market for over 2 decades now.
Looks like Trai never thought on these lines.
Complain that you lost your phone and request to close the sim.
Getting it deactivated is no problem. All you have to do is make a call. But there is always a risk of that number being used later by their own staff or to issue to someone else without changing the ownership.
@saucap
just don’t recharge it.
keep it switched off.
my secondary Jio number allotted to some one else in 6 months.
Personally I would call you lucky. I have seen a lot of threads on dd itself where people’s numbers were working even after over six months of no recharge. With Airtel, reassign is possible but with jio it is dicey
Once I asked CC to close one number by calling from a different number, reason – sim lost ; all they said that you can get a new replacement sim free of cost. 😂😂😂 The number is still active (without recharge for some 7-8 months)
Yeah, they first deactivate your original sim. Then you go to jio store with id proof and they give you new SIM. Done twice after I lost my phone twice
You can suspend the sim service’s from jio.com .
Also I can see a new option- tariff protection, don’t know what it is. After clicking it, there is an error that I already have an active plan. Somebody please confirm what is tariff protection.
It has been there since the start of Jio.
Its for users who have no active plan.
It will be there for a couple of months after the expiry of the previous plans, I guess.
You can recharge using it at old rates and plans for one time.
Idea network is good at these. They reassign it as soon as the directed period > 3-6 months is completed.
Make sure your ID Removed from that number
If some fraud happen on that number you are screwed
DOT still working on this Scenario.
Ask Jio Customer Care to close it
They closed one for my after confirming all identification
Send port out request from Jio. Join another network using same documents but don’t do first recharge for that number.
