I have decided to buy a iPhone 12 Pro Max which is going to release soon. I m also doing research for insurance companies who can do my iPhone 12 Pro Max Insurance and m planning to take from ORA Policy.
Alhough, there are other good companies like TIMES Global Assurance, capital gadget secure and gadget Policy etc. But the premium is low in ora policy compared to other companies.

how to know its using free https certificate ?

its showing not secure for me

Click on not secure/site icon in address bar in chrome & then click on certificate. You will see certificate issued by “Let’s Encrypt Authority X3”. It is a free https certificate providing service which is not used by professional sites & is only used by those who cannot afford to pay money for a https certificate.

What is disadvantage of using a free certificate?

Would you trust a Mercedes Benz authorized service centre running in a cheap rented shop address instead of a costly upscale mall/address in your city?

I asked from technical pov
How many percentage of people will check certificate issuer for a website?
Whatever you are saying, there is a difference between two – cheap shop will be not be in a posh area and demography will also not in favor of sales.

E.g. If I ask someone why not ot use a free hosting, obvious answer will be – those are not reliable and can go down anytime or suspend account.

EDIT: found this https://cheapsslsecurity.com/blog/free-ssl-vs-p... which answers my question, major difference is DV and EV

Technical POV is irrelevant in this case. Let’s Encrypt is a well known long time running entity providing free https certificate so using their free https certificate has no technical issue whatsoever unlike using free/cheap server hosting service. The point is would you trust an ecomm site that cannot even afford to buy a paid https certificate for its operation with your money.

I guess you still are missing my intention of asking. Not every question is to defend something but can be simply out of curiosity. Anyway, lets leave it here. I better would have googled it, my bad.

I tend to upgrade iPhones every year and selloff my previous iPhone. Most times I use a costly case with good protection (look for UAG/Spigen etc) and renew applecare for a year. An iphone with Applecare warranty fetches me good value when I sell.

If you feel there are chances of your iPhone to get damaged easily in your lifestyle or work then only opt for these insurances. Most times 3rd party insurances are too much headache when needed and whatever experiences I have heard, most people are better off without these. And yes Applecare+ is too costly (not only in India but in US too), but if you feel there are high chances of dropping your phone .. better get it.

See carefully the op & the 1st reply user profile, combine it with site using free https certificate & one can easily connect the dots to guess this is too good to be true. smile

Is this some sort of a scam?

First someone who registered on desidime yesterday posts about ora policy and then two people who created accounts on desidime today come forward to support it. All three of them have posts only in this thread.

A well orchestrated plan.

Appears to be fraud. They dont appear in IRDA’s list of web aggregators.

Good try with new accounts.

@admin @MJ911 why not take action on this organised scam? This thread needs to be deleted so that people don’t fall for it.

Why don’t you buy it directly from Apple since they have started selling it directly in India now. You can opt for Apple Care+. Their service is the best and covers everything.

I too vote up for this option. Apple Care+ is the best and most effective option to get an additional warranty on your phone. No-hassle repairs and no claim forms to fill.
