I see charges for annual pack on bsnl is 2k. But all other players charge 3k for similar plan. Why not port to bsnl ?
Any input?

BSNL very good as a secondary SIM

If you need for data, then check bsnl speed in your locality, bsnl data speeds are a pain , otherwise only for calling purposes , its great.

It works well for me because i use broadband and mostly i am in range,so my mobile data usage is close to NIL.

Internet is the issue

Reliability is the issue... With bsnl..i always try to give it a chance by using it as my primary sim... But it always disappoint... If it works in an area... Its speed is quite stable..better than jio in lot of areas.... But vi speeds are the best if u have 4 ca device.  . But if it dont works... Even google page will not open... Call will not go.. And sometime downtime for 2-3 days... No signal at all

BSNL can be a hit or miss depending on your location. For example, my father was in BSNL and he has the company sim and speeds are definitely good for 3G (10-20 Mbps) at my home and almost everywhere in the city (Vadodara). So, check with someone if the speeds are good, then you are good to go.

what is the cheapest plan in BSNL for incoming calls for a secondary sim ?

They have different plans, but average cost in 2 rupees per day

For me they deduct 107 for 50 days validity.

Be cautious with bsnl sms service.. It's really pathetic. You won't get any Otp in specified time.. Im personally had this issue many times (even in good signal range). If you use the sim for any banking services means kindly have a rethought.

In my area which is close to LOC, Bsnl goes on holiday every weekend.

bsnl is not good in majority of places. It is good only as a secondary SIM. Forget using it for data because it is unreliable.

For me :

best network coverage jio > airtel > vodafone > bsnl

best data speed vodafone > airtel > jio > bsnl

Exactly mirrors my experience with the exception of Airtel’s data speeds indoors being overtaken by Jio.

Depends on your state. For me bsnl provides coverage everywhere BSNL>VI>Jio>Airtel in terms of coverage.

Depends on where you live. For me, I have not seen a network as pathetic as BSNL. I cannot imagine anything worse. Will port out soon. It’s been six months only and four months is still left till expiry of the 397 plan but their network is unbearably poor to continue. Vodafone or Airtel or Jio, they are in different league.

BSNL is best

Sometimes BSNL works in the areas where no other networks can reach, so Yes, If it works well in your area Port to BSNL, and keep a Jio SIM in spare.

Only for calling, not for internet.

ofcourse for data usage the 3G network is not as fast as 4G but it works. There's no network downtime or any of service issues my family and myself using it for last 3 years. But as someone have mentioned it, it does take time for OTP to get on BSNL networks. But aprt from that its usable. Just check the network condition before you commit

No issues with sending OG SMS like for ex. UPI registration and stuff? Need to port one of my Airtel nos. regd. with banks  to Jio/BSNL as I don’t own any SIM of the latter two.

People opt for the reverse – bsnl to others. Bsnl is good nowhere. (B)hai (S)ahib (N)ahi (L)ena…

OP probably has made his choice already but one should be extremely wary of BSNL. I mean I wouldn't have them even if they pay me. They are dangerously bad, and I don't even mean SMS or internet, but just 2G network reception.

Ofcourse you are well informed and 100% aware of such things being invariably device specific, traffic specific and location specific.

I do not exactly recollect but @getready in Karnataka and others there.

Some in MH where too 2G network in many rural areas was directly migrated to 4G... literally enjoyed the (then truly unlimited data) 1098/1099 plans.

.

.

And in general.. even though it too is a low hanging fruit for the Aakash Ambanis and Tatas and Gautam Adanis... BSNL does have coverage in far flung areas.. some where no other operator wants to have a generator/ power backup too.

.

And while at under 800 rupees to keep incoming active for 365 dsys is the cheapest among othet operators...

.... if (like you hypothesised) they start paying too... 😋it would be a steal!

Don't ever buy BSNL. Worst service. Two months back i shifted from jio to BSNL today i am cursing my self. I dont get otp messages immediately or receive after two hours. Call drop frequent i get message call not registered i travel outside most of the time data never work.  My initial data was 600 gb today same gb contiues. 1503 customer care useless.  BSNL office has not staff to help u. Don't sccumb to BSNL cheap publicity.
