I was charging my phone at around 9 PM on a train. A railway police came and told me to unplug my phone as it is not allowed at this time. Is there any truth to this?
It is true. The Indian Railways has banned the charging of mobile phones at night in the coach between 9 PM and 7 AM (or maybe 6 AM). This is because many times cell phones have caused a fire and by the time it is noticed, it is pretty strong. To me, this reeks of stupidity but then bureaucracy is rarely filled with people with common sense.
Anyway. Plane, train or bus. I do not depend upon seat chargers. I have often found that the sockets don’t work, USB points are broken, etc. I always carry my own powerbank that I charge fully before starting the journey. It is 20,000 mAH and enough to charge two mobiles or an iPad that will last the whole journey. In my opinion, a powerbank is just as necessary as the mobile phone itself.

In my experience charging in train is insanely slow it takes 4-5 hours to charge 10%-70% for my phone with 10w charger
yeah and even in rajdhani they will switch off the socket at night , i consider it as safety precaution as some accident happened at night in train due to socket failure
Yes, it is a norm and primarily written around the socket area. Have seen people operating electric water boilers and extension boards from that socket, no wonder why they had to implement such a rule. Apart from safety, as a frequent traveler, it is quite a relief that uncles and aunties will reduce their facebook/reels usage on mobile stereo after midnight.
When you compare our railways with others like China who were at a similar place in ~1990, you'll know that our development has been a scam. We will be a 3rd world country for the rest of this century.
There is an old joke that goes that "If Gandhi comes to India today and takes a train, he won't know that it is in fact 2022 and not 1947!"
Gandhiji travels everyday in train or any transport or roads
Whenever any official talks about security and suggests precautions, never try to oversmart him.
I tried to talk back to a police officer regarding this. And he told me that he would file a case against me
I never directly charge phone in train. I normally carry two powerbanks. Put one to charge from train socket and use other to charge phone.
Wah If we have 2 power bank then no need to worry many people have min. 1000mah capacity power bank 😇
They can charge any where
Yes I think the time start from 10pm 😇
my friend mobile got theft 3 days back while he kept his phone charging during night time
Railways will not allow charging of mobiles, laptops at night during travel
I think people cover their devices, put em on charge, keep on running n fall asleep. As a result they ll get overheat n rarely might catch fire.
🙂🙂🙂
actual thing is theft
I have put my iphone 11 charging in train , after 4 hours the battery goes down from 80 to 0% , my phone's battery got damaged .. after that how much i charge my iphone battery goes dead..finally inhave to sell that iphone ..so please dont charge ur phone in train
