If you have to recommend me *ONE* book (strictly from sci-fi/thriller/mystery), what would it be?!

if the same question is posed to me, I would hands down just say ‘Deception Point – Dan Brown’.

I dont usually stick with an author or the popular ones, I randomly keep searching for novels with interesting premise and go ahead with purchasing them.

The one I am currently going through is ‘The Martian Race – Gregory Benford’
The one prior to Martian Race is ‘Nighthawk: NUMA Files – Clive Cussler’

So I was just hoping that you folks can list out your favorite book from the specified genre (sci-fi/thriller/mystery) & hopefully come across some interesting ones:)

For pure sci-fi I recommend Isaac Asimov’s Foundation novels.

As evey recommendation is from western authors, Ill chip in an Indian one. Operation deep strike by Rahul badami (its a military fiction, you’ll e joy it if you like Tom Clancy type books) + of you are into Hindi then surendra mohan pathak is king of thrillers.

thanks for pitching in. I didn’t expect the thread to resurrect after there’s been no response for 3 days!!

‘The Game by Neil Strauss’ is interesting.. bookmarked it.

While Hyperion, broken earth, foundation ones definitely fall under the exact genre I am looking for, I do not want to commit to a series right now unless its like at the best 2 books maybe in a series;) More of looking for stand-alone novels if you ask me.
wow.. foundation series has like more than half a dozen books to cover… that’s something..
