So I have been using IGL gas pipeline from past few years & experience was pretty good was free from cylinder order & change mess also it was cheaper too.
But from recent the prices are increasing quite sharply every 2-3 months per scm prices are increasing currently it's around ₹54 in NCR while start of this year it was around ₹40 even last month only it was around ₹50. My avg bill for 2 months have increased from ₹1k to ₹1500.
But that's not enough for them so even I was considerate about the gas prices due to the war between Russia-Ukraine but now they have introduced this new charge with name "Additional Consumption SD". So they are adding ₹500 or ₹1000 to our bills upon asking cc told me it's a security deposit will be refunded when you close the connection.
As per him every year they will be calculating our average consumption/bill and depending upon that they will charge us some amount based on the bill amount categories they have created ie ₹1200-1700, ₹1700-2200 etc. So if my category changes they are gonna charge us again next year although nothing if my bill remains in same category. Although haven't found any document explaining it clearly nor they intimated us about this charge.
How they can introduce some x or y charge when we have already paid our installments way back this seems to the reason of their increasing monopoly.

Its not about monopoly. With time companies tend to increase deposit amount if there is increase in consumption. I also received the bill with 500 SD. But i remember when my electricity consumption increased few years back SD was revised and had to pay additional amount. Inflation also plays an important role as it increases per unit charges.

In karnataka keb takes 2 months bills as security deposit. So every year they add 12 month bill and devide it by 12 and multiply by 2 and if that amount is more than our sd they will ask us to deposit difference amount. I think igl might be doing same.
