iMobile keeps crashing after today's update

Today I saw an update to iMobile app on Play and took it. Since then the app keeps crashing with the usual android system pop up which says imobile keeps stopping or whatever. I uninstalled the app and freshly installed it, but same. Now I am on a custom ROM and also rooted, so there’s that, but that never restricted me from using any app, including the prior releases of imobile itself.

Does anyone know how to manually download an apk? I mean I want to roll back to the previous working version.

Try Aurora Store (Can skip linking google acc*)

https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/app-4-4-auro...

Aurora > iMobile App > Manual Download > Enter version number (330 for iMobile v14.4)

dont ever download the app other than play store.
if its not working then use net banking. icici net banking has all the features in which are iMobile !

Aurora store is a safe, open source alternative to Google play store. It gets the apks directly from play store

Thanks For Info Bro. Now I Am Skip This Update

Thanks for replies fellas. Well, it’s my setup specific it seems. I installed the app on mum’s phone (which runs on Android 8 still, Lol) and it installed fine. Something broke after today’s update, not sure what! My device doesn’t pass safetynet, that could be a reason, it’s rooted albeit magisk is hidden with zygisk enabled and imobile put under deny list as well, nothing works! I shared the log with dev of Lineage and also intimated ICICI on Twitter, let’s see.

I still can’t believe there is no safe way to roll back to previous working version! Tried to find the apk on apkmirror but to no avail. Funny, on Play Store today’s update is not even reflecting, it still says 1st Feb! Something is messed up.

That’s an understatement, one of the main aim of any custom rom dev is to pass safetynet check. Without it you can be sure that many financial apps won’t work.

Anyone can create a backup apk of current version and share it

Critic Critic
Link Copied

Anyhow, I had one someone to share the older version’s apk with me (via Google Drive), but the main apk contains three files within it, a base apk, a spills activity and one other. Now the base.apk alone refuses to install and the whole apk won’t open saying can’t open this package or whatever.

@guest_999 Till date I have not found a single app, bank related or otherwise to not work due to safetynet.

Thanks for the heads-up

They disabled login via User ID and Password in new app. Not updating app unless forced update is there. Seems there is some bug

Critic Critic
Link Copied

@getready I didn’t have to ask him to share the file using that app again, as I installed the app myself and checked whether the files he had already sent yesterday worked with the app and sure it installed just fine. I can’t thank you enough, tried to add karma but site won’t let me. Now I’m on version 14.1 and it works just fine. I noticed last night that others also have reported on Play regarding the app crash, so just to be on the safer side don’t take the update especially if you’re on a custom/rooted setup.

ICICI Net banking is the best. Their apps are however completely messed up. Pockets has a keyboard related bug for last 2 years but the developers never respond. They mess up imobile every once in a while. And OTP verification also has major bug. Never update unless they stop support of earlier version.

This worked perfectly for me, I used version 320 and it work! Thank you!

I had blocked trackers embedded in most of the apps including the official HDFC one but it seemed to work just fine. But suddenly it kept crashing every time today. I thought I would have to reinstall it which would have been a problem since the regd. no didn’t have  SV. Luckily I remembered to undo the change and it worked. Like they say gotta exercise power responsibly…

app was crashing because you had trackers blocked ?

how did you block the tracker? any leads

It comes with a truckload of other features. Most require root I guess. Exercise due caution especially in case of System apps.

So wait, the new version was crashing because of blocked trackers? Well, I don’t have that app installed which you mention of on last page. But I do have some systemless hosts options enabled in Magisk, and I block Ads by adding AdGuard DNS under that private dns option. Not sure whether either of these could have caused the problem for me.

Benevolent Benevolent

No it’s not related to your case but I mentioned it as in a rooted device there are so many ways one can unintentionally mess around with stuff causing issues.

Swiggy app for instance was causing high CPU usage and massive battery drain plus device heating even when relegated to the background since over a year. I finally took the time to check the logcat and I found that it was constantly trying to ping Google Analytics which was being blocked by AdAway. Creating an exception resolved the issue.

Deal Newbie Deal Newbie

I had the same issue. Have magisk and magisk hide is also enabled. Only difference is that system less host is not enabled.

I tried clearing cache and clearing data and uninstalled the app and restarted device twice. And once I installed after that it started working fine.

Try and let me know

Happy to see such thread on desidime. I am in the same boat. Using rooted mobile with custom rom with magisk. Have been using all popular upi and imobile app as well for a long time without any issue but latest update had killed it.

Even i want to downgrade it to older version. But i am in bigger soup. Not finding my wallet for few days. So i had temporarily blocked my debit card and credit cards. And now even icici netbanking is showing my id as blocked due to my blocking of debit card. And i need to compulsorily change networking password which again needs debit card details like grid etc. 😬😣

So i desperately need to install older imobile version while maintaining current logged in session (so i dont need to reactivate imobile).

Another issue is my outgoing is barred due to no recharge. So cant even just uninstall imobile app and reinstall earlier version as i need current session of non functional app. 😭

Also I am sick of this rule which requires outgoing sms for activating banking apps and for porting out. Ridiculous and stupid decision imo when there can be so many ways user can be verified/ authenticated.

Benevolent Benevolent

Yup. Although without sending an OG SMS there might not be another way to verify if the SIM exists in the registered device or not. Paytm has no issue after the first verification though though it prompts to reverify if the SIM is removed but it still allows to use UPI

Anyone figured out way to make this shit run again without reactivation? How to backup user profile so even if i reinstall it, I don’t have to reactivate it by going sms or debit card?

Check https://www.rbftech.com/2019/06/how-to-restore-...;

I haven’t tried it myself. Also just a few days ago NPCI rolled out an update wherein UPI can be activated w/o DC details, based on Aadhaar OTP

No problem with iOS app

Ureka moment finally guys…

Out of desparation and dependency i dared to take risk.

Took apk and data backup from swift app. Uninstalled app. Again installed from playstore, checked it’s status in magisk which was still enabled and then before starting the newly install app, restored user data from swift.

And shocked to core to find it’s working without new activation. And now app is also working fine. No crashing etc.

Huge relief after frustration of so many days since this problem started.

Btw now app version is 14.3. Don’t remember whether it was 14.5 etc earlier. I suspect icici backtracked update, not sure.

What’s version you guys have installed?

Mine is 14.1

@harpy.eagle Thanks for choosing to be the guinea pig and testing it out man. Must try this Swift app, this is exactly how it should be at first place. Yes, mine is on 14.3 too. Actually I was on an older version which was working fine, but it stopped working suddenly, it would just stay on the opening screen even after entering PIN. So got restless and took the update again, now I was able to login fine. I did disable the systemless hosts module in between though. Man Android is so complicated (I mean we make it so), this is why being a Apple sheep is better at times.

Also, if you think this imobile app is bad in respect to reactivation upon fresh installation, then try BoB world app. That thing makes you to deregister, reregister from an ATM, if you so much take an Android update. Yes, you read it right.

Benevolent Benevolent

Systemless Hosts module shouldn’t really have any effect. It’s only purpose is to let AdAway work systemlessly.

Google is steadily making Android more and more restrictive with each new version. It will still afford way more freedom than the abomination that is iOS but the differences keep getting smaller.

So I took the latest update (13th March one apparently) and the app now continually detects root, despite zygisk. WTF!

Critic Critic

Are you on beta version?
I didn’t get any update for imobile. Mine shows 1st Feb as last update with ver 14.3 on playstore.

I tried imobile v 15.6 on a spare rooted phone and the usual deny list, shamiko didn’t work.

Then tried LSposed with Xprivacy Lua (same as that for Axis) and voila it worked…

Critic Critic
Link Copied

Hmm I wish I knew how it worked. I tried installing the LSposed module on latest magisk followed by Xprivacy Luna apk. Opened the apk and selected imobile pay app from the ist, but to no avail. At this point I’ve given up. Uninstalled the app.

This same issue forced me to install stock rom. Using it since one month. Kind of like it. Less headache.

Also I didn’t want to use modules showing text in Chinese. Didn’t got time to translate and study everything.

I am sick of this sh_t app. Accidently updated it and it stopped working saying my device is rooted. And my cc, i have temporarily blocked.

Already tried getting apk of old version 14.3 from couple of friends but both have non snapdragon mobile. And that apk is not getting installed.

Can anyone using snapdragon based mobile share old apk?
