I was looking for a refrigerator which was listed @ Rs. 69990 on both Amazon and Flipkart before the sale. I believed nothing can match the online price. So i just waited for the sale to buy it.
On sale day, the list price came down to 57000. Thinking it was the best deal I’ll ever get, (10% Yono + 1500 off), I was about to buy it.
Just for the sake of satisfaction, I visited local LG Shoppe in my city and to my surprise, the price he quoted was even less than the price at Amazon after accounting for all the cashback and discounts.
I ended up buying from there. He also gave me a free gift :p
Same happened 3 months ago when I bought an AC.
SO, if you are looking to buy electronics (specially large appliances) please have a visit at local offline stores too. You can even bargain a lot.
These are high margin products and you can save a lot if you play smartly.

When it comes to pc parts always check these sites first:
https://mdcompute...n/
https://vedantcomputer...m/
https://www.primeabg...m/ & its ssd selling division https://www.onlyss...m/
https://www.theitdepo...m/
All the above are all well known/biggest shops in major metro cities(mdcomputers & vedant in kolkata, primeabgb in mumbai & theitdepot in chennai) & are official distributors of many pc part brands in India(they sell on amazon too).
mostly only out of date large appliances or local/regional vendors with “just in time” stock can be cheaper on-line.
even then, it is a headache. someone (two people) from the field categorically told, that in case of damages/ scratches
they are told to avoid reverse pickup as far as possible.
they’d assess if the dent/scratch is on the front facing side or where and may rather offer 1000-2000 if the buyer accepts to keep the unit.
people, even now , work with cash (non GST) billing/ underinvoicing in hand to hand buying.
(even large appliance distributors).
we bought oven offline for 16k, Amazon offered the same for 10
addidas shoes on mrp 18k from brand store, same on myntra for 7k
fridge from local showroom, 30k, Amazon 14k
Oakley prescription glasses, 9k showroom (I checked many shops) , myntra 3k
He is offering because of online sites. Otherwise kat leta wo tmhara.
There is no ground rule that offline is better or vice versa. A wise man will first compare prices and then take an informed decision considering all pros and cons of online vs offline purchase.
People who buy online looking only at the discounts and sale are idiots of highest order.
Rightly said.
Always compare online offline and try bargain offline first , then further more bargaining show them you are online savvy and get good discount there .
Definitely you will get good deals offline , if not always but maximum time of purchases.
Dont get addicted and give yourself to online always and get fooled for the rest of your life.
Get out and recharge your bargaining powers ,product avaliablity ,market scenario. Etc
Don’t get into the TRAP of always buying online and loose your skills and vision .Your Blind folded faith online purchase will do no good.
Off topic but i am curious, is the yono cashback 10% this time for using credit card? So 10% instant discount+10% cashback? Is that correct?
Any source for the offer?
Yono 10% is available if your spending is more then 25k and and 10% off by credit card is only 1500/-
For products over 10k… i first visit local market!! If not satisfied from local market then i only go for online market!! Do the same… it helps a lot!!
Now the time has come that online market will reach a saturation point where price will we same as offline in coming 5 yrs
Till that loot them
I always check mrp and prices quote on both offline and online stores and especially do triple check on expensive products!
I found that huge discounts are only given on old models in large appliance category. Never on newer batch.
I faced it otherway round… Bought Samsung fridge for 33k in retail store which matched the amazon price and next day I found the same fridge for 7k less on Samsung corporate site !!
Happened with me several times….
Recently about to buy ssd..at Amazon wd ssd was 2400 that time and next day 2350 and I visited local shop and they give me in 2170rs….
I always compare price before online shopping…some time local shops win sometimes online store wins..
