Which credit card provides highest value back in terms of Rupee value?

There is a need to spend large sum for this year and coming year for higher education. There are many cards that provide rewards. But Rupee value of the reward points vary depending on the provider.

I am initiating this thread to search for the best value back card and not best rewards or best cashback cards.

(Pls refer the deal wiki section for more details.)

Can you plz suggest more cards with better value back?

Hdfc infinia point value is ₹1 / point only when redeemed for hotels or flights.. otherwise it’s 50 paise(effective cashback becomes 1.6% instead of 3.3% 5 points per 150)

Sbi simply click provides 5x reward points on online transactions (1.25% 5x rewards for online transactions)

Axis ace provides 5% cashback on gpay transactions and 2% cashback on all other transactions.

Hope this helps.

So do you mean -
for HDFC Infinia the cashback is 1.6% ? Then what we need to spend each one point or to earn 1.6% ?

SBI Simply Click – What I know is 0.25/point. Do you mean it is 1.25/point if Rs.100 is spent online ?

Axis ace looks most promising if 5% flat cashback is there. However, I think no payment gateway allows you to pay using credit card through gpay. It can work only on offline transactions.

Hdfc infinia provides 5 points per 150 rs. If we see rp value which is ₹1/point (in case of flights/hotels) and ₹0.50(in case of gv) and convert it to percentage it comes to 3.33%(for flights/hotels) and 1.6%(in case of gv).

For simply click credit card rp value is 0.25. but for online transactions it’s 5x reward points. Normally it’s 1 rp per ₹100 but when you purchase online it is 5rp per 100. 5*0.25=1.25 per 100 or simply 1.25%. (only redeemed as Amazon/Cleartrip gc).

Yeah not sure if 5% works here for axis ace but still there is flat 2% cashback which is also very promising.

I used this info to update the main content. Thanks.

Looks like 1.5% seems to be among the top value cards.

Their is no one size fit all solution here. credit card usage and rewards are dependent upon your spend profile and preferences. for eg – if you a frequent flier, you might use a card that has good reward rate on air miles conversion, like Infinia or sbi air India etc.

I prefer to use cards based on their reward milestones and category. for eg –
1. BOB Eterna – monthly usage of ~42k on rental payments (reward rate of ~3.75%)
2. HDFC Diner – monthly usage of 80k on rental/others (reward rate of 3.3% + INR 1000 vouchers)
3. HDFC Infinia – regular household expenses (reward rate of 3.3%)
4. SBI Ola – monthly usage of ~7200 to convert to amazon vouchers (reward rate of 15%) – not using since last month because of ola postpaid issues
5. Amex MRCC+Gold charge – 12k monthly on paytm load (reward rate of 6.8% when redeemed for 24k collection)
6. Axis Ace – for bill payments (reward rate of 5%)
7. SBI Elite – Movie tickets & Groceries (2 tickets free per month, 5x on groceries)
8. SBI Air India/Infinia/Amex Plat Travel – all big purchases

Can you plz elaborate ?

For example, you mentioned BOB Eterna. Is it mandatory to have 42k spend/month to get 3.75% value back ?

42k is to get max 5000 reward points in a month…3.75% will remain same even if you spend less

I’m using Axis Ace as primary credit card and IndusInd pinnacle as secondary.

Sbi simplyclick is good.
Axis Flipkart is waste, Flipkart account blocking issue for high purchase

I’m not telling card blocking…..

Flipkart account blocking, if we brought 30k laptop, 20k mobile and anything regularly,,, Flipkart will block your account…

Axis will not block your card for such a small amount….

So Axis Flipkart is not a good option, ace is better, 2% cb everywhere.

Just to clearL
Are u saying FK blocking accounts for FK Axis card usage(when purchasing high value items)
OR
IN GENERAL, FK blocking accounts due to multiple purchase of high value items

Thats a good example. So basically BOB Eterna provides 3.75/Rs.100 spent.

Can you similarly provide information on the other cards that you are holding ? For more examples you can check my first post.

But question is, how many of them are genuine users & how many are those who misuse. Take me for example, I have ordered mobiles(3-4) for my friends while another of my friend has ordered mobiles & laptop for his friends/relatives with no issue. I guess you can say that we both pass the flipkart AI algorithm check for those misusing their accounts. That is what it is, you need to pass the AI algorithm check & more than 99% of misusers & some 10-20% unlucky genuine users are not going to pass this check.

But 2L target yearly for fee waiver is very hard with Flipkart Axis, and for heavy uses fear of account blocking.

Yes but for those who genuinely spend almost 1 lakh on flipkart in a year it is not an issue even if they end up paying 500 fee as it will still be beneficial overall. If someone can’t even manage to spend 80-90k on flipkart in a year then this card is not for them.

This target is applicable for Ace as well.
Even if you combine electricity (highest amount)+water+gas+postpaid, this happens to be 2L/12 = 16-17K per month which is also very high if the cardholder only does bill payments for his own card

But you are right, bills are something bound to come every month. But Flipkart shopping won’t be unless you are purchasing for many others or some commercial use

I’m using around 5k utilities bills every month,so 60k yearly bills. 5%

100k yearly around offline shopping. 2%

100k yearly online other websites. 2%

Axis card 10% off on Amazon or Flipkart included in 100k.

2L spending is very easy for Ace.
