The e-filing portal of the income tax department has enabled the e-Pay Tax service with wider payment options including RTGS/NEFT and Payment Gateway modes.
The income tax e-Filing website now offers e-Pay Tax service with wide range of modes for payment of taxes including Net Banking, Debit card, Pay at Bank Counter (Over the Counter), RTGS/NEFT and Payment Gateway (with sub-payment modes as Net Banking, Debit Card, Credit Card and UPI).
Under RTGS/NEFT mode, payment of taxes can be made through any bank that offers this service. Tax payment through Protean website [NSDL] is also available to taxpayers as per the existing process.
Taxpayers are required to make the tax payment within 15 days from generation of challan (i.e. 15 Days from the date of CRN generation). In case of Advance Tax, the taxpayers need to make the payment within 15 Days from the date of CRN generation or 31st March of Current Financial Year, whichever is earlier.
Ahh... govt payments. Yes, I'll look for CB here too, whatever one might say!
Most cards exclude govt payments from rewards, SBI debit card gives reward points. Anyone knows about a CC which gives? 😀

Waiting for them to allow Amazon bal as pymt method 😈
Will Ace/Fk give 2/1.5% , will SBI CashBack card give 5%
Combined with hdfc bill pay’s 1% CashBack .. this might be a very good news.
At least annual waiver targets will be in easy reach.

You can pay unlimited, they will return you next year.
Putting the money in Fd might be more profitable though, you might get way more interests to pay cc charges.

Did anybody try to pay using cc. Any issues faced or points to note.
Does the payment happen instant just like doing via netbanking, or do they wait for the payment realisation.
@agnivo007 @chai_lover @raman12
Update: I did a 1k txn using axis fk card and I got a 1.5% eligible sms. Faced no issues, got immediate receipt too.

I am expecting many more IT notices next year for those spending too much on cards via rotation/resell but not filing proper supporting ITR as now the card details will be captured directly by IT department system.

No rotation or trick here. Simple advance tax payment with self credit card which IT dept has given option for. The card dues will be paid from my salaried account. Not sure what wrong thing you found in this. I am sure IT department knows about all my credit cards, since I do have a loads of txns on genuine purposes annually, I do earn well to justify all of them.
Also paying tax from efiling website is really good, they show up in there only.. easing the steps needed on NSDL tax payments website.

@Seinfeld I'm going to pay in a day or two... However, PG fees via CC comes to 1% incl gst.
Which card will give cb from SimplyClick, Millennia, Onecard? (govt payments not excluded) - To neutralize PG fees. You got 1.5% via FK axis for you... (you know I don't have, recent axis ordeal)
If SimplyClick gives usual 1.25%, can get another 1% paying via hdfc platinum dc or 2.5% via mobikwik-millennia DC combo. Millennia should give 1%, don't want to worry much about OneCard.
Else, I'm gonna use SBI RuPlat debit card 2RP for each ₹200 @ 0.25% (2X = 0.5% as it's my birthday month) at NIL PG fees.
Others also can please suggest...

If you got millennia DC, you might want to use that too. I haven't used it for this purpose but 2.5% upto 400 ₹ should be good upto 16k tax if you need.
Whatever you do, make sure the card is in YOUR name please.
