10 platform charge + 1.3% convenience fee. Amex cards works too.

  • PhonePe introduces a new feature called 'Income Tax Payment'.
  • The feature will allow taxpayers to pay self-assessment and advance tax directly from within the app.
  • The feature will allow users to pay taxes using UPI or other available mode of payments.

PhonePe has partnered with PayMate, a digital B2B payments and service provider to enable this feature.

PhonePe introduced its latest feature on Monday, allowing users to conveniently pay their taxes using either their credit card or UPI. This feature comes with added benefits for credit card payments, as users can enjoy a 45-day interest-free period and even earn reward points on their tax payments, based on their respective banks.

AFAIK the milestones are 1500 x4 and 20K per month. How those can be achieved in paying taxes.
self assessment / Advance taxes can be paid in batches. Like you said, one can pay 1.5k*3 and 15.5k. This will fetch 1000*2 bonus points for the month. Not sure if regular points will be awarded or not. If regular RP is given then 400 RP more.

I doubt the reward part as almost all the CCs are stopping rewards on govt. services.

Amex milestone works for everything as of now. And since PayTM has patched the zomato / uber way. It's better to use Amex for genuine purposes. Also since most ccs don't reward Gov services like you said, hence Amex comes into play in this situation.

You are correct. Sadly no amex on IT website.

With most CCs blocking rewards from Government txns, I would love to hit that 20k milestone and earn some good rewards on Amex.

when it comes to Income Tax related transactions. I would like to keep them thru official website and avoid any 3rd party app.

Can you please tell- 1) How much is Charges for 10k tax payment by SBICard credit card? 2) Which option/gateway to use? 3) Will I get reward points? 4) Will this transaction counts as milestone spending?

1) mostly < 1%, you will get to see before paying.

2) choose whichever seems reliable to you. Maybe SBI as you are using SBI cc. Previously canara bank had the cheapest gateway option, its no longer so.

3) Depends on which card you have and what are the exclusion for rewards. eg. SBI cashback card gives no cashback on government spends.

4) Again this is card specific. Please check fine prints and exclusion on the variant of SBI credit card you have. Maybe SBI CS will be able to confirm more. But from my experience mostly such spends are counted towards milestone spends, but can't confirm for sure. Like recently Axis Magnus excluded Government spends from being counted for milestone.

I tried SBI gateway, it gives only two options 1) SBI INB lite 2) UPI. Both not applicable for SBI card.

You are right now I remember, that Sbi gateway does not support credit card. Try other gateway like Canara bank or Kotak bank
