I have a dlink 2750u router spare. Can i use this to extend my wifi range by connecting it wirelessly to router being used?

Only wired extender possible, to connect via wireless you need 2 same model routers with wps enabled & even then there may be some technical issues related to network speed.

I have same brand but not same model. What is the benefit by connecting via wire? I cannot extend to another room

Using old routers as extenders/repeater doesnt always work.. it depends on technicalities which a normal person may not be able to understand. I tried and tried and gave up. It works for once and when restarted it wont work.
I suggest to use repeaters for this to avoid waste of time.

I have two tplink routers same modeland one tenda router. But even while using the same models, it’s not smooth. The repeater router would stop working intermittently. Any workaround?
Someone mentioned that wireless repeaters work well. Can anyone suggest one? Also are repeaters different than routers?

repeater/routers are mostly the same, meaning its the same chip inside that does the work, just a mode change.

I remember configuring a repeater, where I noticed it can work as router too.

Regarding the smoothness of your existing setup, make sure your repeater is in router’s coverage area. Do not expect to boost the network when the repeater is kept in the boundary of existing network.
