In my opinion, Yes...!!! Provided you hold your investment for a long term say minimum 3 to 5 years... You will definitely going to get decent return in long term compared with the rate of return on FD or even a growth / appreciation and returns to be received on real estate... Not doubt, there has to be a diversification of investment... But considering are young age, we can have 50 to 70% investment in the market in the form of equity, shares, mutual fund, SIP and so on...

It's just a prediction...!!!

Practically speaking, it will certainly not happen immediately...

It is a slow, continuous process which will obviously take time...

16% is not growth rate, its contribution (market share) in global GDP.

With all this glorified story of growth people always make the mistake of not taking account of inflation. Substract inflation and you know what is the real growth.

By the way indian CPI is a joke, e.g we take account of nokia handsets while calculating price increase of mobile phones. Who the hell still uses nokia phones! Inflation is way higher than the official data. Just look at the price of all the things you pay for regularly. There is a increase between 20-25 percent in last 2-3 years alone. If that's around 8-10% inflation, India is in negative growth.

With about 20% of global population share, we are contributing 16%. It's not something to be proud of. Data can be so misleading.

"A strong domestic demand and services export will offset the downside in goods export. Domestic demand is supported by healthy balance sheets." The same report says. That means we are screwed but we still managed to grow because we have a huge population and they need to eat, wear chaddi, needs a place to stay and brush their teeth.
