Think like this and make a switch: If parle stopped selling biscuits tomorrow and I liked to eat them, shouldn't I start trying alternatives or stop eating biscuits (and hence the need for shitting) altogether?
Personally had switched in childhood, still equally feel comfortable using either of those...
Use western toilet as an Indian toilet.
Squating is best natural position
So always squat
My 3 story building had all indian toilet but in couple of years all stared leaking so I replaced all with western and anglo indian. Since the pipes are visible and not under tiles if leaks we can detect and repair . I wont suggest anyone to install indian toilet for the sake of building health . and for old people commode is best. So basically anglo indian is best u can use squating and sitting both
Both are fine with me now, got both at home a decade ago and use as per mood. Still prefer Indian while accessing public toilets.
I won't say transition would be that smooth. Initially, while using WC, I had this feeling that I'm unable to empty fully.

You can use a foot stool with your commode to simulate the effect of Indian toilet.
Indian toilets leak. Your walls ll be mold infested n permanently damp. To avoid it, use proper leak proof material. Use latex based polymer to waterproof the floor and walls around before laying the tiles. Silkalatex SBR is a good alternative to Dr Fixit.
Or use a stool along with a commode to alleviate leakage n water seepage issue. As suggested by @neel648 bhai.
Nice topic for a Sunday Morning. haha! I'm fine with both. Elders prefer Western due to knee-related issues, so you can decide accordingly. Better to have both, imo.

Yes Anglo Indian is good. Can be used as both.
nehi hota bhai.

Both are fine ..my previous home used to have Indian toilet but where I currently live is installed with western toilets and western toilet is kind of better imo .Initially, I was a little uncomfortable using western one but I became habitual in few weeks. So, don't worry you will adjust with time. Also, transiting from western to indian will be hard for me now.
To be frank Indian toilet is best for healthy people and western is for unhealthy
In villages everyone use Indian toilet only
All these knee problems are in mostly cities those who live natural lifestyle in villages are less affected
Use the combination toilet. Indian toilet makes your legs powerful and hurt less with age. Western toilets make even 20 yr old guys legs weak. We use western toilet everywhere nowadays. Advantage of wc is that you can browse sites like dd without tension and old people with knee problems will like it.
Western toilets are for old age and medical need people . But now it's been dumped in everywhere just to show classs and status .
Indian style has lots of health benfits besides easy cleaning .
In cities flats now new construction give both as there are 2 toilets.
Leakage problem in Indian toilet can be because of poor and improper plumbing .
Can say that in Western toilet, your @$$ touches the ring if you have to poop which is kind of gross if you are the only person into hygiene and others aren't even in a family home.
Whereas in Indian, no touching, it's in the "air" plus there's a more complete feeling of bowel evacuation when pooping
Even when peeing, some guys are not into maintaining super hygiene of the toilet and splash it all around unless they are peeing like a girl which is a matter of ego for them
