Received an IVR based recorded telephone call from mobile numbers 9806020183 / 9806020163 informing "We have received a request for modification of your Simpl account number, if you have not made the request - Press 1; If you have made the request Press 2"
Didn't pickup the 1st call as in Truecaller it indicated Simpl account fraudsters. Picked up the call 2nd time from different but similar number, for the purpose of exploring.
On pressing 1, received an SMS-OTP from VK-SMPLPY, presumably for an attempted SIMPL transaction, with an IVR announcement "Please enter the four digit confirmation received on your mobile for confirming your request"
The IVR voice sounded very professional, Just like in genuine IVRs. Evidently this is a very convincing trap, where they request you to enter the OTP within the IVR call, which may be connected to their servers processing fraudulent transactions attempts.
All paylater account do not have any 2-factor authentication and just one OTP on sms is sufficient to execute a transaction

Typing error, corrected now. The SIMPL SMSs received with OTP, do not contain any transaction related information, which is even more risky. Just <#> Simpl OTP: 0325. Don't share this OTP. Not you? reach out to us at getsimpl.com/helpa

Bumping up this old thread. Lot of people are reporting similar in twitter today and I am one of the victim today.
Strangely I have received IVR call from my own number which said that "An unauthorized transaction is detected on my Simpl account and it told me to select option1 if I want to block the transaction and after selecting 1, it told me to enter OTP. This is how I am scammed. Receiving IVR from my own number is a first time experience for me and I have never heard about such scam earlier. Any experts who can explain technically how someone can get IVR call from his own number and get scammed ?
The fraud transaction has happened on an app called Healthmug using my simpl pay account for an amount of Rs.23598. I have been using simpl pay from 2017 and this is first time facing such fraudulent transaction with my account.
I just wanted to alert all the dimers of this new type of scam (getting IVR call from own number). I have already filed complaint with simpl pay and register cyber crime complaint online. Hoping for refund. Looking forward to Dimers expert help to go through all the means to get the refund.
First of all the incoming caller ID is fake as IVR calls are being made using VOIP where it's possible to spoof any telephone number as the outgoing caller ID. The actual source of call will never be detected. I followed up with telecom service provider to trace the actual source of such calls, but they couldn't find any record.
Informing customer care of Simpl as well as the merchant requesting cancellation of this fraudulent transaction must be done immediately. Call them and email them to generate a record. Subsequently register a fir with cybercrime portal and share a copy with Simpl and merchant
Everyone Must Read Full Sms Before Copying OTP
Edit :: Bro First Number Contains 11 Digits ?? While Second Number 10 Digits !!
