Introducing New Forum Design for All Users

Hey guys,
We are completely re-vamping the Forum design on Desktop and M-site after around 5 to 6 years… Its one of the major change which will get rolled out to you in next couple of hours…
Why such a big change suddenly?
To be very frank, its not a sudden change and we have ourselves used the new layout/design for past 1.5 months before rolling out to all… And yes we have been contemplating such a change from a long time…
The forum page in its current form was very unhelpful for New Dimers or new visitors to the website… With around 8-9 sticky, the sub-forums etc.. all the real deals were very much down and was lot of inconvenience for New Dimers to figure out the deals.
Also many never figured out how to see Latest deals in forums etc.. So we are hoping the new design will solve some of the pressing UX problems.
Why no votes? Why only hotness?
Over the last one year, we have worked a lot on Hotness algorithm and we will continue to evolve it to push better and better deals up the chain irrespective of simply “votes”
In current Forum page, 5 green smileys would show up even for deal having 40 votes vs one having 6 votes… It was never intuitive enough to understand the hotness of the deal..
With hotness, we are trying our best to automatically show the best deals on very top and Hotness currently is not depndent on what your “best friend” in the community thinks.. it considers clicks, views and much more…
While moving away from smileys may feel a bit odd, you will strongly feel the difference after few days or a week.

Easier switching of Forums
We understand many users would like to switch between forums and we have tried it to make it as much easier as we can.
Improved Search
If you are searching for deals, you wont find discussion clutter when looking for deals.
Choose your layout and it applies site-wide
If you prefer to see deals in a Grid format, simply select that layout and same layout will apply in Home page, Forum page, Search page etc..
If you prefer a less image heavy Text layout, We have got you covered too.
Hope you guys enjoy the change… While it may become slightly difficult initially (specially for hard core users out there), We can assure you that you will appreciate the change as time passes by

It seems that search is working for thread title only….earlier search keyword is used to search inside the thread as well… And used to give more search records…. Now very less records
bring back the feature where we dont have to change page every time(continuous page scrolling)
Yes, we plan to introduce continuous scrolling soon.. but since there are some issues like refresh, back option etc.. We will be introducing infinite scrolling as a settings option so users can turn on/off as per their liking.
I usually dont log in much but am/RATHER WAS a frequent user of DD.
With this new version, YIKES. I have stopped VISITING DD altogether.
SEARCH is HORRIBLE. Cant find anything.
I used to spend hours altogether and now its less than minutes in a day.
Is there anyway to get back OLD DESKTOP version???
Kindly share what you are not able to find in search with new design… As we have not really changed anything there
please revert it to the old version or atleast give a option to change it to the previous version. this new design is too complicated.

So it’s been 10 days since I last commented, and in these ten days I tried my ‘very best’ to get used with the newly introduced design, and the verdict is, I still can’t get used with this, I stick to my previous opinion, this new UI is simply horrendous.
I also am baffled that if I click on a topic and check details, and then when I click back to go back to the previous page, it presents me to somewhere I don’t understand, like a paradox! I scroll up and down but still don’t get where I previously was!
Really comical thing going on.
This issue is now solved, as reported by you and some other Dimers.
@admin I hope you guys have Omniture or Google Analytics tag implemented (I haven’t checked that) to see track your UV’s, PV’s, time spent, etc. but I reckon couple of key metrics like time spent per session and outbound clicks would be taking a beating after this redesign.
I have always loved DD and I have been quietly trying to get used to this redesign; but a week later I still can’t – it just doesn’t work for me intuitively like the previous layout. As a result, I have been frequenting the site less and when I do, I get annoyed in just a short while and move on.
Kindly listen to your community members and revert to the earlier layout. Why fix what’s not broken?

Dear @admin, as you suggested, I have tried the new layout for a week to see if I can get used to it. I hated it then. I hate it now. Scroll functionality is broken. Search is broken. I can’t think of a single good thing about this new design that is better than the old one.
99% of people seem to hate it. Many are requesting for the old layout. I don’t see you responding to those comments at all. If you are not willing to revert back to old layout no matter what, SAY SO. So we can stop wasting out time posting that comment.

old DD was much better
i dont know how admin is trying to increase revenue on this new theme … old theme was much better . both on desktop .
also mobile version is much buggy as it is implemented without proper testing .. when i move back i have to load complete posts to reach my post which is down …
That’s because they pay very low to their design/user experience team. Even working conditions at their office are no less than a jail.

1. every time i refresh the hot deals thread after like 30 min i am in page 5 or something wtf…
2. please bring the fire thingy above oe below the thread name .. i WAAAY in the right side
3. put the bewi counter of the thread below the thread not on the extreme right ..
4.highlight the the merchant tag so that it isn’t as blended into the background like now..
you have put TOO MUCH emphasis one the fire thingy it’s the only thing that stands out.. not the thread not the discount not the community discussion (comment numbers are also blended into the background) … please don’t shove that down our throat.. @admin
There’s a saying " don’t fix something which is not broken". Apparently DD is doing the same. New look is worse than previous one.
I asked them to keep an option for old/new look. So people who like particular look they can choose but no reply from them.win win situations for both if u just do this simple thing. @admin @nigel
Download the old apk from apk mirror. That’s what I did. 
I am using desktop website.
I have logged in after a brief period of time and just wanna comment that the new design absolute disaster.
Kindly give the option to revert to the previous look.
Request Mods if they could kindly change the font for the new Forums UI

Thanks guys for all the feedback.. We have made many changes based on all the suggestions received and we hope all of you like the changes
still not good @admin . Its so confusing . the first thing that hits my eeyes is the percent , and i have to search the topic with so much of flashy materials around. definetely still sucks big time . Make it more readable , 70-80% of users are known users and we come looking for topic which io had to search in this clumsy design …
there was a VU TV Offer some time back wherein 4K tv was availabel for 38K approx. I could see it multiple times earlier whenever i searched for it. now when I type VU TV 4K , I get only 12 searches/threads . Where is the one I want, which was coming earlier.
Where have all the other threads of VU TV gone?
